Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a black coloring with chestnut brown highlights and a thin, frothy, foamy, light tan head that slimly coats the surface. A little more carbonation than I'm used to for the style. Aromas of roasted coffee, milk chocolate, and toasted grains. Some creamy highlights, too. Flavors are roasty, with a mocha backbone on a thin, smooth body. Hints of smoke and bittersweet chocolate highlight. Very balanced and rich. Bittersweet aftertaste, with a clean, slightly lingering finish. Hints of chocolate hang around after each sip. Tasty brew.
