This store has expanded its selection over the last 4 years to over double what it had been when the previous owner had it. If you look, most of the ratings here are from 5 years ago. A lot has changed in that time. The store has a growler station with 10 beers on tap, over 350 types of package beer, and a large pick six section. Good service, reasonable prices, and a helpful staff! Only place to go between Binghamton and Albany!

Interesting place. A small convenience store, with a deli counter, which looked good, and quite busy from getting orders called in. The selection was nice, a bunch of Ommegang, Cooperstown, Southern Tier, Victory, Ithaca and, well, you get the picture. Nothing that was I have not seen before, or could not live without. Average price of $10 a six pack. Service was good, no questions were asked, but the girl and guy behind the counter was really friendly. Good in a pinch, but nothing more than average.

As noted before me, this is now the Hometown Deli.

Post BCTC, going through Oneonta on the way to dinner.

Atmosphere: A non-descript deli/corner store in a decidely residential area. An entire aisle is dedicated to beer. There is also a deli and convenience store for all your needs.

Quality: In and out in a few minutes, the store is small and easy to navigate. Good rapport with the staff too.

Service: Friendly at check-out. To be fair, I didn't need any assistance in my search.

Selection: A very good selection for a small convenience store. As expected, plenty of Ommegang and Cooperstown beers. Lake Placid and Southern Tier provide more ammunition from the Empire State. The Ommegang line-up was all-encompassing, allowing me to snatch up a second Aphrodite (the other one I got at the brewery) for the cellar. There are plenty of other offerings available too, at least worth a stop if you find yourself in Oneonta.

Food: A deli, there were subs and food to go but I didn't get any.

Now called Hometwon Deli and Grocery, the new owner has built on the tradition established by the previous owner. An entire aisle, plus a cooler, are filled with a wide selection of beers and ales.

Add to this, Hometown Deli and Grocery holds occasional tastings, with representatives from the breweries, including Ommegang, Saranac/Lake Placid, and Ithaca Brewery.

The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They also make great sandwiches.

It used to be that I'd have to make the trip to Albany or Binghamton for quality beer at a reasonable cost. Now I have a terrific place in my own back yard.

Hometown Deli and Grocery is worth the visit.

A small shop, but a great one. One of the best places in Oneonta to get some micros. Good selection of Southern Tier, Troegs, Ommegang, Oskar Blues among other good micro beers. Ommegeddon is $11.99, which is $3 cheeper than what I pay for it in Philly (when I can find it). Good micros are hard to come by in Oneonta and Woody's selection is rare compared to most places. If I need cheep macros I go to the Rite Aid on Church, but for a quality 6 pack Woody's is the spot. I make it a point to stop in every time I visit Oneonta. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

For a very small market, woody's has a fantastic selection. It's three blocks from Main Street in Oneonta. Woody works with 13 different distributors and he is always tasting new beers to bring into his shop from all around the world. He does carry the AB products, but only in very minimal quantities. I've only seen 6 packs and 22/40 oz. bottles of the macro's. Th rest of the space is saved for crafts.

Being in a great college town, the stock is always moving quickly so the beers aren't sitting on the shelf for months and going bad. On top of the beer, they make subs that are out of this world!! Get the Woody's special and a Southern Tier Hop Sun!!
