I would like to respond, respectfully, to the review of July 11, 2014. We charge $4.50 including tax for Founder's All Day IPA, not $6. Yes, we use a 10 oz glass, and it should be full; we use the smaller glass for some of the high-end beers because they cost so much more per ounce. Yes, you can always buy it cheaper at a beer store or grocery, just like any other beer or any food item, for that matter. You will pay more for a really nice steak at a steakhouse than you will at a butcher shop, too.

I make it a point to never speak ill of our competitors, and Strange Brew does a nice job. However, I believe that they also pour their Founder's products in a 10 oz glass, and I believe they charge $5-6. I could be wrong, as it's been a year or so since I've been there, but we are always sure to make sure our pricing is competitive with other beer houses in the area.

I'm sorry that the reviewer was not happy with our pricing or portion size, but I wanted to correct the information provided. Opinions are of course subjective, but the facts should be objective. I hope he gives us another chance.

I wanted to say, as well, that as this is a response to a review and my goal is not to throw off the ratings of the establishment, I entered the current average rating since not entering a rating wasn't an option. The last thing I'm looking to do is endanger the integrity of this site's ratings. I hope the moderator does not mind this response.

Cheers!

Decent selection, but all the common stuff really. Never much a fan of this place but it's okay, especially if you're bar hopping. Food is nothing exciting.

I stopped in here to grab a beer on a Friday night. There were 3 people at the bar and a large party in the back room. I saw they had Founders All Day IPA on tap and ordered one. The bar tender poured a 10 oz glass that was almost no where near full and said " that'll be six dollars". When I asked what's going on he explained to me they don't do pints of Founders because it's so expensive. Really? I just bought a 15 pack of cans yesterday for $14! Last night I went to Strange Brew and bought pint after pint of all day with no added charge no BS from their staff either. I think this place is a joke and will never go back. Don't waste your time with this place, Strange Brew is way better.

Stopped in here for a late lunch and a few beers while watching the pats barely squeak out a win. A sports bar kind of feel with a large selection on tap, I'm guessing 50+ They have remodeled extensively since I was here last. A new diner next door lots of outdoor seating and a vastly expanded tap list. I had a burger today that was quite good. A few decent brews on tap. Pricing is average to a bit pricy. I would go back again.

I found this gem playing in the local recreational league. When I first started visiting this place they had an ok selection of brews on tap. The service was spotty, sometimes you would get great service but most of the time it was terrible.

They have a nice special on Fridays which is $2 drafts until 9 pm. You can't beat that for craft brews!! During the Spring, Summer and Fall they have a musician playing on the outside deck.
They very recently have expanded their selection to 120 taps. For the Friday special I believe there are 50 beers on the special!! What was the most refreshing to see is that they have local (NH) brews on tap now!! The service has improved, which is nice to see they are making an effort.

The beer prices range from 4.50 to 5.50 a beer. The higher abv beers run you a little more and you get a 10oz serving instead if the standard 16oz.

If you are in the area I highly suggest this place, especially on a Friday night!!

An upscale bar. Not so much a beer nerd hang-out, but an OK selection of beers, which is skewed towards mass-market stuff, with a much smaller selection of craft brews than a real beer nerd joint, but better than your average dive bar.

Indoor and outdoor seating available. On-street parking around the corner without meters if you go half a block down.

What really makes this place special is the Guinness and Garlic Mussels. This dish makes showing up at Murphy's worth it every single time. I stop in every time I'm in Manchester.

I stopped by on a Tuesday night for the $2 drafts, and honestly I wasn't expecting much. The beer list online is good length, but the selection isn't too impressive. I was also under the impression that the crowd skewed more sport advocate than beer advocate. Maybe this is the case on weekends, but there was a good, diverse crowd when I stopped in. The place was reasonably empty inside for a Tuesday night, with the bar full but probably about 2/3 of the tables open. The seating out front on Elm Street was pretty packed though, and the construction of a two-story deck on the side of the building looks promising.

The space is nice, with a full-height wood panels behind an attractive bar. The rest of the room is tall, open and airy with huge windows on two sides of the building. Most importantly, the beer list online is a bit out-of-date, and while still not too exciting, the actual beer list is more impressive. I had a Dogfish Head and a Switchback, a beer I'm glad to start seeing in Manchester. There were a few others that I considered, but most were typical or uninteresting. Still, especially for $2, there were plenty of options to keep me satisfied, and the room and the attentive server made it an enjoyable place.

One last thing, and this is speaking more generally to Manchester bars but pertains to Murphy's: Manchester bars need to have at least one New Hampshire beer on tap, and preferably a sizable selection. That a bar with 24 taps in the largest city in the state where Smuttynose, Moat Mountain, Milly's, White Birch, Manchester Brewing, Tuckerman's... even Redhook is brewed can't devote a single tap to a state-brewed beer is unacceptable. Shape up Mancunian bars!

Tuesdays at the Tap, $2 drafts! Couple of notables on there, but nothing really bitter for the hop-head - Harpoon UFO, Magic Hat #9, all your Sam Adams variants, and the rest were imports or domestics. Smuttynose IPA was in bottles, and I enjoyed one while there, in addition to a couple Sam Adam's Lagers, the UFO and Magic Hat, and a bottle or two of their more hop-headed fare.

The cost was great, I got my tab at the end of the night and thought there was a mistake. That being said, I'd love to see Harpoon's IPA or any other nice, bitter brew on draft up there.

They seem to be open to suggestion, so next time I'm in New England I'll pose the question...
