Appearance. Pours a deep cola brown with a thin tan head.

Smell. Roasty malts and caramel, sweet chocolate, dark cherry, and a little booze.

Taste. Dark and somewhat roasty malts, some tart cherry and a little light chocolate. Very little alcohol presence.

Mouthfeel. Below medium in body with medium-strong carbonation. This doesn't really feel like an imperial stout.

Overall. Pretty nice for what it is, fairly light for an imperial, but the lack of booze and light tartness makes this an easy drinker.

Thanks hoppypocket!!

750ml Bottle - Thanks to iguenard for this

Appearance - Black/brown colour with a small size beige coloured head. I can't see much carbonation due the darkness of the beer and there is some faint lacing. The head lasted for only a few minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Chocolate, malts, cherries, grains

Taste & Mouth - The beer has a low amount of carbonation and it feels thin. I can taste chocolate mixed with malts and a bit of funk. There is also a cherry tartness and some corn/grains. It ends with a bittersweet chocolate cherry aftertaste.

Overall – You'd never know this beer had over 10% alcohol. It drinks more like a regular stout than an imperial one. As others have mentioned, this beer has potential but falls short on a few levels.

Bottled April 5th. Deep, dark brown colour, opaque with a wispy cover of cream-white head.

Lots of alcohol up front on the nose, with chocolate, subtle roast malt and a definite black forest cake character (complete with cherries, chocolate cake and icing). Slightly sour with a hint of ethanol. Nice overall.

The black forest character is lighter in the mouth than found with the nose, though still present. Boozy for sure with some cardboard underneath. The finish presents earthy hops, alcohol and light dusty chocolate. The flavour here is a bit thin.

I'd say the body is a bit too light for the weight of the beer. Lightly carbonated.

I'd be interested to try this with some age on it to have smoothed out the alcohol a bit but the flavour is too thin anyway. Great idea (black forest imperial stout) and nice attempt, I'd say it's only a few tweaks away from being top-tier.

a good carbonation and not malt forward. not very lacy. yeast protein doesn't bond with malt. therefore its quite effervescent.. not dense. interesting feel for such an abv. really does feel like cherry cola but with a bitter tannin fruit kicker. nose is quite boozy malt liquor. mineral carbonation. palate is actually fruity. malt is secondary which is sort of different for a american double. palate of cherry seeds that have been kept in the mouth for a bit and start to bitter. very long finish. after taste of blacked malt and and fruit sugars. there is something very interesting about the ph of this beer. its actually very smooth. the nose does say much about that palate. flavor doesn't expand as much as i'd like for something this high an abv... but is really well place none the less.

750ml bottle shared by eat - thanks Colin!

Pours a dark sort of muddled coffee brown, looks a little thin for a stout. Finger of khaki head.

Light cherry in the nose, milk chocolate and a hint of cold coffee. Nose is pleasant, not unlike Black Forest Cake. Flavor is along similar lines, cherry notes that initially remind of cherry cola but as it warms takes on a more sour cherry note. Really quite sweet, hardly any roast to balance it out, a faint note of something cardboard like, much too thin in the body, hides the ABV really well. Lots of potential here but not fully realized.

Draft: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a light dirty brown color head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of cherry blossom with dark chocolate and light roasted malt. Taste is quite reminiscent of the cake of the same name with added black chocolate notes and some lactose though I could be wrong. Body is nice with a creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very well done and quite singular.

A chocolate cherry flavoured stout from Brouhaha, and our nightcap after a hard day of working (drinking) at Mondial de la Biere's Saturday session.

Pitch black pour with a bubbly tan head of foam. Big sticky lace sheets. Sour cherry aroma with black chocolate and coffee roast is quite dense and thick. Flavour is interesting, and while it doesn't hit a homerun, it works well. Bittersweet chocolate dominates, but the sour cherry takes the edge off. The coffee roast is not too prominent at first, but gradually becomes more so. Quite a nice interpretation, and it has a bit of a Belgian feel to it. Medium body and carbonation are okay, but I think heavier and smoother would have been better.

A decent imperial and nice beer from Brouhaha. I like experiments like this...

On tap at Mondiale 2010. Good mouthfeel. Good cherry stout. Black with a little head. Cherry cola flavours: carmale, vanilla. Above average carbonation. Sweetish more than bitterness, some roast. Decent stout, not thickness of an Imperial stout. Did not feel like 11%, decent for what it is.
