A: A nice german atmosphere from the time you walk in to looking at the menu. On the weekends they have an accordion player; every 3rd Friday of the month they have a polka band. Great atmosphere if you are looking for something different in the area. On a side note during band night it's community seating. You will be placed at tables with other people and feel free to socialize :).

Q: The food and beer are of the utmost quality. Never had food served cold, uncooked or ill prepared. The beer quality is all authentic german beers served at the proper temperatures and glassware.

S: We usually sit at the bar so service in my opinion is exceptional. During band night or on a busy weekend the bar is not available for 3 or more. When we have sat at a table the service was still good.

Sel: Food selection is amazing. They have a wide variety of different German dishes to choose from. I would like to see them add to their tap collection though. Beers on tap include: Spaten Oktoberfest, Spaten Lager, Spaten Pilsner, Warsteiner Dark Lager, Warsteiner Pilsner, Fransikaner Weiss, Kostritzer Dunkel. There is a selection of bottles but I have never inquired to what they are. Every once in awhile they do have Spaten Optimator on tap. That is a treat.

Food: I have never had anything on the menu I have not liked. The food is just awesome. The list of items on the menu to get is too long. Just read the menu if you see something that sound good it will be good. We have been here many times on band night and during that time we have met many patrons who are from Germany and have said its the best German food you will find in the Denver Metro area bar none. They all say the red cabbage is as authentic as it gets.

V: Pricing is reasonable and beers can be purchased in 1/3L, .5L, 1L, 2L. Yes the 2L is served in a boot. For the value you will not find anything else like in the Denver Metro area. A true authentic German restaraunt. And yes the owners name is Helga.

This German Deli is "hidden" behind the Aurora mall in an old Chili's building.
When you first walk in, you actually won't notice that it used to be a Chili's as it's been partially gutted to resemble a beerhall of sorts. It's not perfect, but it's good enough.
On to the beer and food, right? They have quite a few items, so pretty much all of your Bavarian bases are covered. They have Spaten helles, pils, Oktoberfest, as well as both Franziskaner weiss beers. They have Warsteiner pils and dunkel, too. In bottles they have Pauaner helles, weiss, and Salvator. In addition to the beers themselves they'll make the German beer mix items, too. Radler and Cola-weiss are on the menu, but they'll also make a Russ'n (weiss and Sprite) if you ask. For the kids, they'll also make a homemade Spezi (Mezzo Mix) which is cola and orange soda.
The food's typical German fair, which isn't that common in the area. Sausages, meats in gravy, sandwiches on dark rye, fried potatoes, sourkrout, potato pancakes, etc. It's quite good and I really have no complaints at all about it.
The real issue is the service. It's not only slow, it's really disorganized and they make frequent mistakes. Everything from getting things out of order to incorrect beer sizes, to simple negligence. It doesn't take away from the great food and beer, but I've seen the crowds dwindle a bit in recent months and I have to think that I'm not alone in having issues with the service.
Still - Helga's is a treat and if they can get their service issues in order, it's a wonderful stop.
They also have a little gift shop and mini-deli in the front of the store. You can buy authentic Bavarian glassware and snacks.
