This is an interesting place, with a lot of artifacts related to the history of prostitution, and interestingly, a lot more craft brews than macros. Obviously, lots of Alaskan and one Midnight Sun brewing, plus locals from Skagway brewing.
The decor is interesting, and waitresses dressed like the old days make it quite charming, if you discount the hordes of tourists with shopping bags.
Food is not very good, and very limited. The beer selection is interesting as mentioned, but the service, if courteous and pleasant, can be sumarized with the following tale:
"What is the midnight sun beer you have there?"
"Oh, it is a very dark beer, you will not like it"
"But which one is it?"
"Midnigh sun!"
"Midnight sun is a brewery, with multiple beers, not a single beer"
"Oh, let me get someone that might know".

Again, courteous, but illiterate in regards to beer. If beer is your interest, which I presume it is, Skagway Brewing is the place just down the street.

Skagway is two different towns depending on the season and the accompanying tourists. I have been here a number of times, and just recently while driving home from Alaska this Fall. It is is place that is enjoyable because of its location, and the journey taken to get there. If you find yourself in Skagway it is for other reasons than being on a beer vacation.

The service has always been pleasant, there is not much variety in either the food or the drinks. The food is simple, does not try to be something that it is not, and it succeeds on that point. Beer selection is what you would expect in small out of the way town, domestics, local Alaskan brews and a few other micros when I have been there.

Stopped in on my Alaskan Cruise.

A: This is a little tourist spot where they have recreated a gold rush whore house. They have a small museum and a piano player. The girls are all dressed up and play the role of olde time prostitutes.

S: Despite being packed the service was pretty good. The food was a bit slow to arrive, but the waitress was quick to bring more beers and the girls were pretty funny which made the time pass rather quickly as I waited.

S&F: The food menu was somewhat small but was pretty good pub fare. I really liked the soup which warmed me up on the cold day. The beer selection was pretty small but they had some quality offerings. They had several alaskan brewing beers and naughty nellies by speakeasy.

Overall it is a fun place. I had better luck finding beer in the hanger wharf, and better entertainment in the Red Dog. That being said those bars are not in Skagway so when in town this is a fun spot to hit in addition to Skagway brewing.
