South Park has made its mark on the Dayton craft beer scene. They offer 18 taps of craft beers, and they are continually rotating the selection. They offer everything from Bell's to Founder's to Stone, etc. It is never a problem finding something you will like - it is more of a problem deciding which ones to enjoy. They are also great about letting you sample. It is the best beer bar in the Dayton area by far. Shaine does a great job of running the taps and the staff always goes out of their way to take care of you.

THe pizza is exceptional as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the Dayton area who enjoys great beer. I only wish that it was closer to my home.

So, ever since I left college more than twenty years ago, I have been going back to visit my buddy Nate, who I went to school with at UD and is Dayton born and raised. For all of that time, when I visited, I have gone with Nate and his brother Joe to whatever local bar they were patronizing at the time, most famously the old Walnut Hills on Brown Street. In all that time, these two townies swilled Old Milwaukee, PBR, Strohs, and whatever other macrononsense the bar was willing to sell cheapest. At most of these places I was lucky to get a Sam Adams or a Great Lakes and people looked at me weird when I ordered one. Dayton, and these dudes' turf in particular, seemed the furthest place from a microbrew renaissance as you could possibly imagine.

Imagine my astonishment when I walk into my friends' "new" bar in my last visit to Dtown: bright and cheerful, copious menu, outdoor patio, and most importantly, a ridiculous beer list, both in paper form and on a large chalkboard. Almost like being in Brooklyn fifteen years ago, but still..

So this place is crazy convenient for downdown Dayton, has a beer menu heavily featuring Epic and Fathead but plenty of other stuff I had never heard of, and is a genuinely pleasant place to be, unlike most of my Dayton experiences. I enjoyed an Alpha King. I would have loved to see more Dayton and SW Ohio stuff but it was still a sea change for my expectations. While Tank's and Belmont Party Supply had always been stellar, they seemed happy as forlorn outcasts, as 97% of people got their kicks on BMC. A new dawn is rising?

Stopped in for a late lunch on a business trip. Not much to add to what's already been said.

Good food, good beer and friendly wait staff. It'd be hard to pry me away from this place if I lived in the area.

Visited for lunch on Halloween to talk business. Will definitely be coming back.

Atmosphere: Cozy and clean joint. Booths, bar tables, TVs - a typical small bar type atmosphere, but well lit and not at all a dive. Nice big chalkboard sign as you walk through the door showing what's on tap. Interesting to see a wide range of people in the place. Father and young college son having lunch, several businessmen, some locals, and a big crowd of friends getting together for an event. Very accommodating.

Quality: Lots of high quality beers available on tap and in bottles in a cooler behind the bar. I did see 1-2 macros, but from what I've seen of this place, it's so they have something for everyone - plenty for those who love craft beers and imports, and also something for someone who just wants a simple US macro lager.

Service: It was very crowded I think unexpectedly so for the staff in the place. There was a large crowd at the tables (a special get together) So while it took quite some time to get served, the waitress hustled as best as she could and took 10% off the bill (with no prompting from us) due to the wait. Beers were served in the proper glasses - Tulips for the Belgian ales, and Nonic glasses for the lagers that were ordered by others in the party.

Selection: I can't remember the wide range of things they had on Tap, but definitely a good range of seasonals, imports, US craft, 1 cider, and 1 macro lager (Labatts). To my surprise, they had on tap Kwak, one of my favorite Belgian ales, which was what I had with lunch. They had quite a bit from Bell's and I think a few choices from Stone, but again, I can't remember. Behind the counter I saw several Lambics, quite a few 22oz bombers, several imports (Weihenstephaner, Sam Smith, Piraat is what I remember). Honestly, something for everyone with the choices they had. I don't think you would be disappointed.

Food: Not a huge selection, but a neat selection of pizza, calzones, and sandwiches. I had the Gyro pizza which was fantastic. I will have to come back and try some more things off the menu.

Price was very good. 4 people, 5 beers, 2 calzones and one large pizza - $53 total.

My absolute favorite place in Dayton to enjoy a craft beer. Always have something new as the taps (18, I think) constantly rotate. Great locally owned place. Small bar but always get a seat somewhere. Side patio is nice if the weather cooperates. Staff are friendly and fun to talk with. Pizzas are the best - I won't order any other pizza in Dayton. Parking has never been an issue.

South Park Tavern is one of the best kept secrets in Dayton. Where else can you get a killer selection of craft beers and Pizza Factory pizza? And on Monday its 1/2 price pizza? Seriously a never miss location. There is always an excellent selection on the tap list and its a part of the growler fill with Thai9, Luckys, et all. VISIT THIS SPOT FOR SURE!!

This place is by far one of the bars/taverns in Dayton. They always have some amazing beers on tap including delicious IPA's. The Reuben pizza is the best I have ever had. If you live anywhere close around Dayton and haven't been to South Park then you are missing out.

South Park Tavern (SPT) is a must-visit if you're in Dayton. It's a small bar/restaurant that has a small stage for bands inside and a small patio outside. (Yes, it's small, meaning if you don't get there early on a Friday or Saturday, you probably won't get a seat. You can usually tell by how packed the small parking lot is.)

If you do get in though, be ready for some delicious food and drink! The specialty pizzas are where it's at - they are made by Pizza Factory (which you should order and pick up just down the road if you can't get a table). My personal fav is the Chicken Cordon Bleu pizza, it's seriously the most delicious thing on earth. And the foccacia is great too. They have an awesome 18-tap wall that is a wooden cutout of a guitar! The beer selection is great, usually about half the taps are IPAs (Mojo Risin, Maharaja, something from Founders or Bells) then there's a good variety of other choices.

The wait staff are all nice and pretty knowledgable about the beers, and you can always ask for a sample or two. Beer prices are comparable to most other places that serve craft beer, about $6 a pint. There's always a mixed crowd there; some families for dinner when it's early, people coming in for a beer when they just got off work, craft beer enthusiasts cozying up to the bar, friends hanging out enjoying food and drinks and listening to the bands.

Overall, one of my all time favorite places to go. Never disappoints!

I heard about this place a few years ago i had to check it out! It was great to see the wide selection of delicious craft beers...i like to go at least once a week, and i usually check their beer list online to see whats on tap... One of my favorite places to drink an IPA and have some pizza! Their selection of beer is one of the best in Dayton. Cant really go wrong with pizza, craft beer, and music. Sometimes it gets a little crowded but everyone is friendly, and the patio is great when the weather is nice.

Stopped in around 4:15 on a Thursday evening with a co worker for a pint or two and some chow. Cozy interior with one of those old hockey foosball type games with the big plastic dome.

Sat kinda close to the bar so I could read the beer menu on the chalkboard.

A nice selection of beers on tap. I went with a black IPA and Belgian IPA from North Peak Brewing out of Michigan.

No taster flights available but the friendly server was more than willing to provide me tastes. In the end, she gave me a generous ~3 oz taster of the Flying Dog Coffee Imperial IPA.

I had a greek pizza and my buddy had fried appetizers which he really enjoyed.

Nice place that could probably get really crowded when busy.

Great beer selection and good pizza. knowledgeable and friendly staff. Several tvs and a projector for sports. Outdoor patio with fire pit.

Continuously updating the taps with unique craft beers. Website and Facebook are regularly updated with current tap list. Beer does go in a hurry most often so if there is something specific that you want to have, make sure you get there the night that it is tapped or you might miss out.

Overall a great place that I go to frequently with friends for good beer and great conversations.
