A 500ml bottle with a BB date of 29 Oct 2010 - so it's a bit out of date. Picked up cheap from a local off-licence. The label mentions that it's brewed in Manchester and has a picture of 'Coronation Street'. I bought this because I've never tried it, and not due to the association with a soap opera (I detest crap TV programs).

Poured into a pint glass. A lovely coppery-amber colour with considerable haziness. The dregs from the bottle indicate conditioning with live yeast. Plentiful carbonation and a large off-white head that subsides a few minutes later. An aroma of sweet malt dominates with notes of honey and some floweriness.

The taste is malty and quite sweet, followed by mild bitterness upon swallowing. Reminiscent of biscuits, with notes of grain, caramel and some butteriness. It has a smooth full-bodied feel to it and leaves the mouth slightly dry. Goes down nicely.

A good ale, although the malt dominates the flavour. It tastes as if there's some hops missing, although this might be due to the age of the bottle I consumed. Worth trying if you come across it.

500ml brown bottle poured into a JW Lees bitter pint pot.

A. Orange-amber coloured beer with a bubbly white head that shrank down to a thin foam.

S. Malty, possibly a hint of nutiness.

T. Caramel and biscuit malt, some butteryness lurking in there too.

M. Thin bordering on medium, slightly carbonated.

D. A nice beer to drink while you watch the programme this beer is named after. P.S I DO NOT watch it. The beer is far superior to the tv show IMHO.
