Probably the worst beer I've had as of recent. I got it in a make your own 6 pack from Wal-Mart here in town. It just tasted dusty and skanky. It may have been expired, but I really try to check that before I buy any beers. Color was fine, but everything else about this beer just stunk, literally.

Appearance: Heavy uniform particulate matter, small bits, ... everywhere. Clouds the glass, which is yellow amber and holds a thin white head.

Smell: Some papery oxidation, no date on the bottle so the brewer takes the hit. Some floral honey notes, mild esters.

Taste: A bit sickly sweet, with a vegetable earthy rot.

Feel: A little chunky, medium body, dry finish

Overall: Avoid; drain pour.

Appearance-wise the beer does well, with a nice, clear copper color and a small, fizzy cap, that admittedly does dissipate quickly, but hey, I can forgive small nuances like that, providing the beer tastes good.

Aroma is closer to a brown ale. Malt forward with a touch of breadiness, and just a hint of any hop character. Somewhat minerally, almost like blood....scary.

The flavor is quite harsh...I'm not sure if this brewed with particularly hard water, or what, but the only hop presence I can really detect is a harsh sort of astringency. Don't get me wrong the bitterness is quite tame, however due to the overall harshness of said bitterness, an almost "metallic" character, it renders the beer quite unpalatable. Aside from the harshness, there isn't really any hop flavors and the malt flavors certainly take front seat, primarily of a caramel variety with a slight husky graininess.

Egad. This is atrocious. I can honestly say I will never ever buy this beer again...nor will I willingly except any for free, and that's saying a lot since I'll even drink BMC if it's free.

Poured from a bottle into a stemless wine glass

A- pours orange with a one finger white head that fades pretty quickly. Tons of sediment lingering in the beer as well. Looks like someone just went ahead and dumped some sand in there...lovely

S- very weak aroma of grassy hops. Completely a non-starter

T- there's some light piney flavor going on, with no real bitterness, citrus, or anything to justify this as a tasty beer

M- thin bodied

O- pass on this. "Hopped Up" must mean one ounce per barrel has opposed to the half ounce in their cream ale

This beer looks so novelty it's killing me, you know when you look at a new beer and it looks so bad that you know not to buy it. But there's that sick part of your brain that wants you to try it it. Pours a brilliant orange tinted copper color with a slightly off white head billows thick and forms nice scattered lacing as it dwindles. Aroma hints of caramel and stale hops slightly herbal/citric/and dank weed with a mix of stinky feet. Flavor is horrible, cardboard grainy water with bitter hop pellets blending through each sip finishes with a bit too much garlic. Mouthfeel has medium to light body with moderately heavy carbonation flowing through. Overall if you like hops and you like good beer, you want enjoy this novelty offering.

Horney Goat Hopped up 'N horney pours a almost hazy golden color, with very little head. The smell is skunky, and smells like a cheap euro lager. The taste is watery, pale, more malty then hoppy. Not very good carbonation, not too easy to drink, not sure I would like another, leave an offesnive taste. Overall this is just an avoidable one, tastes cheap, I hate to not like these really small brews, but this one isnt good.

The color was golden and it was very clear with a soapy and creamy, bright white head. It had a very light earthy hop aroma with a nice malty smell.

The body was light and watery, and the mouthfeel was slightly carbonation crisp. The carbonation was the only thing noticeable up front, followed by a bit of a bready maltiness. The hoppiness seemed a bit earthy and piney, but also kind of stale.

This would probably go with almost any food, as the flavors were fairly neutral - pizza, burgers, fries, etc. The hop flavor was no where near as big as the name would suggest, so the hop flavor wouldn't get in the way of any other flavors.

I'm not sure how long it was on the shelf before I got it, and I suspect it may have been there a while, as the hop flavor was not as big as the name suggested. It even tasted a little bit stale. While it was a bit watery, and easily drinkable, it's likely not one I would try again if given the chance.

To even put this in a category with other IPA's should be a crime but here we go:

A- Dark golden color with a head about an 1/4 inch, that had no retention and created no lacing. Some carbonation occurring throughout.

S-Not much here a faint smell of hops

T- Had a very light hop taste that was almost kind of watery.

M- Pretty light in the mouth with little carbonation occurring.

D- If your new to IPA's then this might be a beer for you other wise steer clear of this one. IPA fans will be highly disappointed you spent money on this.

This being a local brewery there was a lot of hubbub about the quality of the beers. Unfounded, in my opinion. I always start with the IPA offering at any brewery because that's my penchant. This one was light in color with larger carbonate bubbles. The first taste was weak so I tried another after waiting a bit to see if it needed to settle. No luck. Weak malt and weak hop taste. No mouthfeel to speak of. Would not try again and I'm wondering who I can give the remaining bottles from the 6 pack to!

12oz bottle into pilsner glass, almost didn't buy because of the corny name.

Look is a brownish orange-amber with a small head that fades to a ring. Smell is mostly plastic. Don't know what happened here- there are cascade hops, but behind alcohol and an offensive plastic smell. Taste is underwhelming as well, hops are dull and medicinal, malt is roasted and enjoyable, but muted.

Weak, should have followed my instinct and avoided.

Poured a clear amber, not a fantastic head, disappeared leaving no trace.

A real buttery note to the smell, with grapefruit in the background.

Some grapefruit, but surrounded by butter, grass, and a musty finish.

Highly carbonated, yet mouthfeel somewhat thin.

This was just missing on all counts for me. I wasn't impressed.

12 oz can. Pours clear light straw gold with a big fluffy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is subdued - sweet sugary malts with some soft fruit and a hint of sulfur.

The flavor is sweet bready malt with a little soft fruit and some grassy hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a pretty subdued basic IPA.

I let this warm some out of the fridge. Poured with an average sized off off white, short lived head and some lace. Color is a clear amber with a couple of slow bubble trails. Aroma is wet grain, malt. Flavor is similar to nose, plus some sweetness and carbonic tang; not much hop. Body is ok and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor and quite short.

Poured into a Perfect Pint glass. Formed a loosely packed, two finger, snow white head. Moderate dissipation speed, leaving behind small amounts of lace on the glass. The body is crystal clear and a golden-orange color with amber hues.

The nose is not very distinct. Hops up front with some fruit and honey undertones. You can also detect a grainy/malty backbone...if you try real hard...

The flavors match the nose...bland. The hops create a bitter, floral taste that mixes with a twinge of malt for an unpleasant overall palate.

Light mouth feel, astringent with moderate to heavy carbonation.

Nothing great about this beer, drinkable (I guess), but not one I will reach for again.

pretty one dimensional ipa. It has a piney bitterness with an overly sweet malt backbone. Tastes like it's going to give me a headache. It's a bit sticky in the mouthfeel, piney-bitter aftertaste. At least I'm hopped up and horny.

Copper colour, clear, half-finger head is a soapy consistency and beige and reduces to a wispy centre with a ring. Low carbonation and minor lace that proves to be fleeting. Poor retention.

Moving on to smell ... what? No hops? Smell is disappointing. Taste is also not very hoppy at all. Some earthy bitterness held in check by a sweeter adjunct side. Not all that well done, dry finish is also a bit of a clunker.

This is not what this old goat expected; it drinks a lot like an adjunct inspired or corn-based macro lager with a thin body and an aftertaste that is not all that pleasing, it reminds me of corn starch. In fact, this beer might best be called "Hopped Up 'N Corny". Not recommended.

Classic copper with a bright auburn coating that glistens into the light. Its clarity is vivid and transparency is easily observed, overlooking of course the bubbles which can be distracting. Considering the name it bears, I find it rather ironic for this beer to display only a limp, flaccid (and pitifully minuscule) head. How embarrassing...

Furthermore, Hopped Up 'N Horny doesn't smell the least bit hoppy even though supposed "generous" amounts of Cascade hops were apparently used both in the boil and as dry-hop afterwords. That's either a lie or a misunderstanding on the brewery's behalf of the meaning of the word 'generous'. I smell nothing. Certainly nothing worth noting.

And I know the spicy, tangy, fruity persona of Cascade hops - this definitely isn't it. Not only is this an epic failure as an intended hoppy pale ale but it also fails to be even remotely malty either. The taste, like the smell, is stale and resembles damp cardboard. Even without adjuncts this has about the appeal of a macro-lager.

Traces of caramel or tangy fruit are difficult even to imagine; there isn't any malty toastiness nor hop bitterness. Its bland, faintly sweet and heavily carbonated mouthfeel give it a likeness to soda. The brewery suggests "beer nuts, nachos, wings, or perhaps a nice jerky" to pair with their beers - I think that speaks to the quality of their offerings.

The brewery says that if I don't get hopped up by this beer then nothing will get my juices flowing. I don't think so, it's more like: if I *do* get hopped by this beer *anything* will get my juices going. Hopped Up 'N Horny didn't get me the least bit excited, except maybe to finish the review and get on with my life. Horny Goat is a regrettable one-night stand.

Light amber with a thin, white head that fades quickly, leaving some patches.
Smell is faint malts and hops. Slight hints of straw and spices.
Taste is watery malts, with some very faint hops. The following taste is rather bland, with neither the hops nor malts carrying on much. Very lackluster finish, which has about as much character as soda water.
Mouthfeel is very watery, with decent carbonation but not much else. Again, much akin to a carbonated water.
Drinkability is average, mainly because this beer is so lackluster that there is little to lure one to continue on. I scored it as average merely because it falls short of being unpleasant.

Poured into a MJ tasting glass.

Pours a clear orange/amber color with about a finger or two of white head that drops rather quickly.

Aromas of light citrus, orange, grapefruit, not much malt character. A little "musty"

Flavors of light bitterness, light malt, rather understated in all aspects. Faint citrus, grapefruit notes. Flinty. Finish is quite short, with nothing really standing out. A bit of a one dimensional beer.

Mouthfeel is thin, almost watery.

Drinkability is low. There is nothing much to distinguish this beer. Muted in every aspect, bitterness, maltiness, mouthfeel. Best part is the appearance.

Thanks to schmittymack for sharing this one with us at my house. Poured a dark golden color with a little white head. Aromas of biscuit, citrus and light pine. On the palate, this one is medium bodied and kinda flat. Flavors of biscuit, crackers and light citrus.

Shared this one at Dan's on Saturday. Poured a fairly clear golden color with a creamy white head that didn't last too long. Slight aroma of malt and citrus. Taste was pretty average at best: very slight citrus, malt, biscuit, and no real bitterness in the finish. Not a drainpour by any means but not too impressed. Glad I was able to try it but that's about it.

12 oz. bottle tried 9 Jul 2009. Courtesy of R&S, thanks!

Served in the 0.4 L Hutthurmer mug. Medium sized parchment colored head. Very lightly carbonated. Clear dark honey color. Aroma is sweet and syrupy, not getting a lot of hop aromas. A fast upfront bite of hoppiness that quickly fades, then becomes kind of caramel sour. Light watery body. Light alcohol.

Kind of blah overall.

Got this as a gift, figured it would be hoppy.

Pours golden, west coast looking, nothing special.

No smell.

Hardly any taste, very malty and watery with a kiss of hop bitterness, not nearly as much as you would assume from the name.

Avoid this. Just a brewery with a "clever" marketing technique only geared towards college kids.

Pours a nice dark orange from a 12 oz bottle.

Smell is slightly floral with an equally strong bread aroma.

Slight hop taste at first that blends into a malt sweetness. Some lingering hop bitterness after swallowing.

Medium to light mouthfeel.

Overall this beer is OK, but not impressive.
