(512) IPA(512) IPA
Notes: (512) India Pale Ale is a big, aggressively dry-hopped American IPA with smooth bitterness (~65 IBU) balanced by medium maltiness. Organic 2-row malted barley, loads of hops, and great Austin water create an ale with apricot and vanilla aromatics that lure you in for more.

Pours a gorgeous, cloudy, glowing burnt orange color with smallish head. Smell is fruity, hoppy and strongly of dried apricot. Taste is fruity, hoppy and big on the dried aprictot flavor. Very flavorful and moderately bittered. Big hop flavor and with less bitterness. Medium to full body with soft to medium carbonation. This is a really well made IPA with big apricot flavor that drinks well. Easily my favorite 512 beer so far. Well done!

I was traveling and found this at Haymaker in the Austin airport. On a short list, it appeared to be the best option.

By all appearances, I was surprised by the IPA classification. The color is more amber than most IPAs, and the flavor lacks the "juicy"-ness I've grown accustomed to in that category. If I didn't know better, I'd guess this was a more flavorful amber ale with a thick, frothy head that doesn't quit.

Unremarkable. Met the need/desire for a beer, but missed the mark for an IPA.

slightly hazed amber body pours with a burnt cream foam head that has high retention and leaves tons of sticky lacing as it settles to a thin murky cap

aroma is floral array of apricot, peach, vanilla, chewy caramel malt, and resinous pine

taste follows the nose, delivering a bouquet of sticky and floral bright stone fruit, rich caramel malt, and deep earthy resinous pine. barley funk and grapefruit join the mix as well.

moderate carbonation and medium body brew carries through smooth and chewy with occasional carbo prickle, before finishing slightly dry and crisp, and earthy pine hop bitter. dry hopping evident for sure in the aftertaste as well.

overall:
ATX's OG IPA. Takes a nod to the West Coast Masters for sure, but is definitely it's own thing, bringing in rich apricot and vanilla over the more traditional grapefruit/pine one-two combo. beautifully done.

12oz bottled 7-17-20, opened 7-31-20.
3 finger off -white head of dense and rocky foam. Excellent retention with thick, sticky lacing left behind early.
Brilliant and glowing golden-amber. Very good clarity.
Thick rings of lace cover the back wall of the glass.
Hoppy nose - apricot, floral, pine, orange.
Big stone fruit flavor, apricot early turns into marmalade later. All the while floral and piney hop flavors are intertwined. Melon late. Hefty malt base carries it all along, no problem...light breadiness and a hint of caramel.
Soft mouthfeel, long lasting head provides a creamy texture on entry. Medium body and carbonation. Clean and lengthy bitter finish.
Outstanding.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazed copper-amber color with a one finger head of white fizzy looking foam. The head fades rather quickly to leave a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is biggest of a fruity aroma of tangerine mixed with some harvest fruit smells of apricot and peach. Along with these aromas comes some hop smells of a pine and grapefruit as well as a touch of caramel and vanilla
Taste – The taste begins with caramel malt flavor that has a decently strong grapefruit hopped taste. There is a touch of harvest fruit in there as well which seems to fade as the taste advances. All the while some flavors of pine and herb come to the tongue and leave one with a decently crisp and hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average as well. The feel is pretty nice overall and makes for an easy sipper
Overall – A pretty nice IPA overall and at least worth a try.

Pours a foggy copper with a finger of white foam. Aroma is light and frilly notes of citrus, herbal, resiny, dank hops that carry a little stickiness. Flavor profile is sticky and bitter, hitting notes of citrus, herbal, pine, dank and resiny hops for a sticky consistency. It has some faint bready, earthy malts. Mouth feel is lightly sticky with a smooth consistency carried by a light crispness. Overall, sticky with a favorable texture.

Had on tap. The look was a light orange with a small white head. The lacing stayed a long time. The smell was some stone fruit and a little vanilla and a bready malty smell. The malt was a big player in the taste. It was some fruit up front then some sweet bread/biscuit from the malt finishing up with a bitter bite. Overall it was different from all the NE IPAs I've been drinking, the malt plays a big part in the smell and taste. It was an okay beer.

Decent beer, not real hoppy but has a full mouth taste. Some caramel and grain cereal. Not much going on in the smell, but looks the part. Nice head with lacing throughout, bronze with slight bubbles. I enjoyed it and would happily dring it again. In Texas for business, haven't seen this in Florida so may not get a chance or I missed it.

Really liked this IPA. A totally different take on an IPA. The vanilla really shines through and it's just the right amount of bitterness. Excellent!

It is a solid beer. Not what I expected though my pallet is conditioned for Northwest IPAs but it has a good mouthfeel and is a good beer overall. Definitely one you should try.
