(512) Pecan Porter(512) Pecan Porter
Notes: Nearly black in color, (512) Pecan Porter is made with Organic US 2-row and Crystal malts along with Baird’s Chocolate and Black malts. Its full body and malty sweetness are balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!

Poured mainly black, with a dark tan head. Not much aroma, basically roasted malts. Taste is of the roasted malts and bitter chocolate notes. Mouthfeel was good, with a medium body and carbonation. I didn’t get any pecan notes, but overall a very nice, enjoyable porter.

Poured into a softer. Look is typical porter with low froth on top. Good smell of pecans on the nose with typical wafts of porter in the air. Tasty! Good notes of pecan in the mouth and not chewy. The taste though is fleeting - does not linger. Feel is smooth not chewy but leave the lips sticky. Good quality beer!

Drinking this at The Crafthouuse Kitchen and Tap Room in Beautiful downtown San Marcos Texas.
Poured from a tap into a pint glass.
Appears dark brown almost black with a tannish foamy head that dropped quickly to a thin ring and plenty of lacing.
Smells malty, sweet, chocolate, coffee.
Taste follows the nose nicely.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall a very nice Porter that I would definitely order again.

12oz bottled 7-7-20, opened 8-22-20.
1/2" tan head, compact with a fine bead of bubbles. Good retention and sticks as a solid cap.
Black with dark brown edges. Spotty lacing.
Roasted malt, chocolate - milk variety, dark fruit, and mild coffee.
Semi-sweet chocolatey malt. Chicory. Smoky. Mild licorice.
Nutty but not perceptible as pecan specifically.
Medium body and carbonation...creamy then chalky mouthfeel.
Moderate length in a roasty, dry finish.
Very Good.

Glossy black with a moderate tan head settling to a bubbly thick and creamy blanket clinging in wobbly ridges.

A nutty tobacco roast is accented by semi-bitter cacao and a little woodiness, as the smooth, silky medium body has a light crackly carbonation before its paper dry finish.

There are hints of vanilla within an otherwise nondescript tang, but it's not really very pecany overall. Angry Chair's nuts have spoiled me rotten.

Notes from 3/14/2020.
I have had this beer on tap many times but it's been a few years. I was excited to find out they started bottling it.
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Rastal nucleated Teku glass.
The body is dark brown with a quarter inch of tan head from an aggressive pour. The head recedes rapidly. 3.00
The aroma is close to medium-low and of chocolate, coffee, and sweet malt. 3.5
The taste is medium-high in strength and has flavors of high quality dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, a little pecan, and some char. The moderately bitter finish is long lasting. 4.5
The mouth feel is just below medium, moderately creamy, and has light carbonation. There's a very light level of astringency. 4.00
Overall, the flavor is world class and makes up for the average appearance. I had difficulty waiting for it to warm up because it tastes so good. 4.25

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep brown color with a one finger head of tan foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a roasted malt smell with lots of caramel and a little bit of molasses and chocolate. Along with these smells comes some light nutty smells as a little tiny bit of herb.
Taste – The taste begins with a rather molasses and caramel brown bread and toasted malt taste that has just a touch of nuttiness. The sweetness is quite big, and gets even slightly bigger in nature with some chocolate hitting the taste buds. The nuttiness increases ever so slightly as the taste advances, producing a slightly more pecan like flavor. At the same time some earthy hop comes to the tongue and leaves one with a lighter pecan, and rather big and sweet porter flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is rather robust and thick with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the tastes and style the feel is pretty decent and makes for a robust, but easy drinking feel.
Overall – A little big on the sweetness for me, without that much of a pronounced pecan flavor. OK, but not one I will likely go back to again and again.
