Style: American Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.60%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
At once cuddly and ferocious, (512) BRUIN combines a smooth, rich maltiness and mahogany color with a solid hop backbone and stealthy 7.6% alcohol. Made with Organic 2 Row and Munich malts, plus Chocolate and Crystal malts, domestic hops, and a touch of molasses, this brew has notes of raisins, dark sugars, and cocoa, and pairs perfectly with food and the crisp fall air.

Pours a dark brown. Some grassy pine on the nose with a hint of roasted character. Medium bodied. Bready, nutty, and some grass on the palate. Finishes with biscuit and bread, roasted malts.

A: Very pretty dark mahogany, redish around the edges, nice head with medium retention.

S: Alcohol, rich malt, some hops, nothing extraordinary.

T: Very dry, but very balanced. Nutty and rich, but never overpowering.

M: Not as exciting as I'd hoped. My waitress pitched this to me as a double brown ale, but I felt it was lacking in body somewhat.

O: This was a tasty beer. I got it for 3 dollars on tap. Great session beer, highish alcohol, just didn't quite pack the punch I thought it would.

Black pour with some brown highlights. Strong malty flavor upfront with hints of coffee and nut. Full bodied. Mild bitterness and biscuit. Finishes with a sweet edge.
