Vibe: I stopped here for brunch on a Saturday (the only day they're open for breakfast) and it wasn't overly crowded, but there was a nice farmer's market going on outside in their parking lot that included a local country band. The inside of the place was very open and airy with a wood-fired pizza oven.

Quality: Beers were served in a variety of glassware at the proper temperatures.

Service: The wait staff was friendly and made it a point to stop by our table on numerous occasions to check and see how we were doing.

Selection: The place had 16 beers on-tap during my visit in a variety of styles, many of which were from North Carolina breweries. The breweries available on draught included: Birdsong, Burial, Foothills, Founders, Haw River, Highland, Mikkeller, New Belgium, New Sarum, Stone, Southern Pines, Unknown, Wicked Weed.

Food: I tried their eggs with collard greens, cheesy grits and a biscuit for breakfast. It was good old fashioned Southern cooking.

Great place to go to get fresh pizza. They have some great local grown veggies, and local made sausage and cheese. I love having local made stuff. The staff is super friendly! The girls have tattoos, which is cool. I like the vibe in this restaurant.

They have a excellent beer selection, and the staff seems knowledgeable with the different beers they are serving.

Excellent place for brews and killer pizzas. Great, knowledgeable, friendly bar staff. Be sure to tell them that you want a room temperature pint glass or you may end up with a very frosty one.

The 3rd time was the charm for me. Once I understood how things work it was a picture perfect experience. It didn't hurt any that my 3rd trip there was a bottle share with a newer group known as the NC Triad Beer Meetups. One hell of a great time and everyone that works there was very friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable. Did I mention that they make Killer Pizzas? They have about a dozen taps that are constantly rotating with an excellent selection Abd that have numerous bottles as well. I'll be back time and time again. Cheers from RedNeckBeerz

This is where I have a Foothills Jade every PM. I love this place and the people even more. This neighborhood is very special and the beautiful urban in-fill business locale is a throwback to an earlier time. Greensboro is fortunate to have this thriving remnant of another time be so modern and cool. Sticks and Stones is a neighborhood restaurant that also is a first class neighborhood bar. The pizza is creative and excellent, with fresh local ingredients. Sandwiches are varied and very good. Mostly quiet, unassuming, and real. What more do you want? Completely family friendly and welcoming, Sticks and Stones is a credit to a staff that puts out a great product and backs it up with personality.

The place has a real laid back vibe and is a little "crunchy" - combination of hippie/granola and hipster (I liked the crowd). They were awesome in allowing a bunch of us Triad BAs to most a bottle share here on a day they were not too busy so that definitely scores them a few extra points - they want to be a part of the local beer scene and make efforts to encourage that crowd. The location is great as they are practically across the street from Bestway.

The beers that I ordered on my visits were served in a variety of glassware though not always the glassware I would have chosen for the style (there were shaker pints, snifters, and something that resembled a mason/moonshine jar - none were labeled from any breweries that I saw). The beers were served at a good temperature, with a proper head, and tasted fresh (so either they were recently tapped kegs and/or the lines are cleaned frequently).

The waitstaff and bartenders were both friendly and attentive - they were quick to make sure that we had anything we needed (including tasting glasses and water since we were conducting a bottle share on my second visit to this place). I did not have any questions for the staff on the beers because I was familiar with the options available on tap and in bottles/cans.

The selection of beers was not enormous though they seemed to have a better number of options available in cans/bottles in the two cooler cases than the number of taps. The taps were good and featured a fair amount of local NC options.

From a food perspective, the pizzas are upscale/gourmet creations that use a lot of different local NC ingredients and are really quite delicious. I enjoyed mine as did everyone else at the table that I spoke with (and this was a fairly large group). Two folks at the table did have complaints when they ordered the rosemary garlic fries that they were so salty they were inedible but the waitress quickly took them back and brought out new ones that were not so salty.

I thought the prices for both the food and the beers were quite reasonable.

Sticks and Stones is one of those laid-back gnarly little spots you hope to find on any trip out of town. And how lucky we are in Greensboro to have such a place tucked away right here. One where you can relax, enjoy interesting, out of the ordinary food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, with the added bonus of some excellent craft beer selections. The atmosphere is great and fits the concept quite well. I have been here frequently with never a bad experience. BTW, menu items, besides being organic and locally sourced, are ALL named after songs by Ryan Adams, a North Carolina native Grammy nominee. Wonder if he's ever stopped by...?

We were in the mood for some pizza, so this was the place to hit in the area. It is located on an intersection that has three restaurants on each corner, but the whole area is really residential. Smallish parking lot, but the strange thing was the old bicycles that were used for the railing between the parking and outside eating areas. Inside there is a nice fish tank when you walk in, and to the left you see numerous tables for dining. The bar is smallish, as only about 8-10 people can sit there. The large glass windows in the front provides loads of natural light. There is a glass refridgerator with bottles along the one wall.

There were 15 beers on tap here which all were local beers which was nice. Several beers from Foothills, Highland, and Natty Green's, with some single beers from Lonerider, Green Man, and Mother Earth. The few pints I had were fresh and of a good quality.

The pizzas we had were all very good. They all had unique strange names, but the ingredients were of good quality. Service was solid and friendly.

Overall a very enjoyable experience and we left satisfied. We will be back next time we are in town.

I really enjoyed Sticks and bones. It is set in an older residential area and it appeared to have a lot of locals in even though it was a Monday night. This is not a fancy place but it does make you feel comfortable. They had a very good selection of NC beers on draft. I wound having a Green Man ESB. One word of caution if you like craft, my fist ESB was delivered in an ice-cold glass. I requested and received a room temperature glass for my second. We ordered one of there pizzas and it really was tasty. The food menu is pizza, sandwiches and pasta but everything looked good. We will be going back.

Really great place...cozy, comfy, all-inclusive, casual but hip, hip but not stuffy...a place anyone would feel comfortable visiting. A variety of seating options, including a patio outside which gets packed in nicer weather.

A fair handful of local NC brews, which apparently rotate fairly often. And then some out-of-state stuff too. I enjoyed a Foothills Hoppyum on tap (which is so much better than the bottled counterpart) and then a can of Ten Fidy, yum yum. Pizza was fantastic, very much your traditional brick-oven Italian style, but of course with a local and fresh G'boro/NC twist. Even had that bubbled-up crust thing. The stuff is made with obviously quality ingredients, and with authentic stone ovens doing the biznazz (hence the name), well, you can't miss.

Only gripe: they attempted to serve our Ten Fidys in frosted glasses. Seriously? But they were quick and kind enough when we requested room-temp glasses. All was well. A place I'll most definitely go back to...and it's right next to Bestway, the greatest beer store in Greensboro. It's like a micro-capsule of Portland in one G'boro city block.

I have always loved the setup in here. It really has a look all its own. The fence is made of old 10-speed bikes?!?
ALL NC Taps. Some standard cans. Tap list had 2 Mother Earths, 2 Foothills, 4 Nattys, and the much loved Skull Coast Dead Mans Porter.

Got the fries to start off with, fair size, good seasoning. Then split a small pizza with a very odd name, something about kissing later? Anyway, very good but get a large if you have 2 or more people or the 2 of you are pretty hungry.

A great stop for the beer, then head over to Bestway to get something to bring home!!

The taps here are all dedicated to North Carolina breweries, and there are usually a range of styles from Foothills, Mother Earth, Highland and others. Additional selections are available in bottles and cans. This family friendly restaurant focuses on local organic ingredients and everything is fresh. Appetizers and salads are very good, but the pizzas are the mainstay here. Pizzas are cooked in the wood fueled clay oven, and there are many options for unusual toppings. Sticks & Stones is located across from Bestway, Greensboro's best bottle shop.

This is a great place. I actually found this place by mistake 3 years back and I have been a regular since. I love the concept that everything is local to North Carolina. The ingredients are all local and always fresh. I always have the $5.95 lunch special which gets you 2 slices with one topping and drink. I always upgrade my drink to one of the many NC brews on tap. You can get anything from the local Natty's staples to as far as Duck Rabbit seasonal brews. This is just a hidden gem that is also wife and girlfriend friendly.

Stopped by here based on a recommendation from the beer guy across the street at Bestway. The place has a modern and "new" look and feel to it. I went around 2 on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. Enjoyed a Ska Modus Hoperandi while eating some pizza at the bar. All the taps were NC local featuring Foothills, Duck Rabbit, Natty Greene's and Mother Earth. All other beer was in cans only. Lots of run of the mill BMC stuff but also some Oskar Blues and the Ska Modus Hoperandi and a couple others. The pizza was excellent, cooked fresh with some interesting ingredients. The menu stated that everything was bought/grown/produced locally - a pretty cool idea. All of the pizzas were a little out of the ordinary which is cool, I don't come to a place like this for a plain pepperoni pizza. Atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, mellow music playing in the background and college football on the one and only TV. I really wish I had a spot like this in my neighborhood, it would quickly become my everyday hang out.

This is directly across from the best way and looks oddly out of place in the area, lol. I stopped in to see what was going on though I had already eaten lunch and it was far too early for dinner. Seemed like a nice little place with a decent, if not average selection of regional brews. Highland, Duck Rabbit and a Mother Earth selection that I could see, nothing earth shattering but they tried. Food looked great and kind of made me wish I had not eaten already. This might be worth a second look for lunch one day, seemed very reasonable and very laid back.

Very nice local pizza place with lots of organic toppings. The menu includes a good variety. I would recommend the fried mozzarella as an appetizer - delicious. The beer selection features all local brews on tap with a decent selection of macro and micro cans in a cooler. The food was great and the beer was fresh. This is a great place to eat if you're going to make a beer run at BestWay across the street. The service was very good. I would definitely recommend checking it out. We will definitely be back.

It was a super cold and rainy afternoon after we just had four inches on snow in the area, and I was getting stressed driving around in the weather so I wanted to stop during my lunch hour for some stress relief. I have been across the street to Bestway and was impressed so I thought I would hop in here as well.

A rather small place but the ambiance was cozy and intimate. Wood floors and wood ceilings with a wooden bar and wooden booths and tables all around. The bar was very small, only about six or seven stools available.

The beer list was on a chalkboard on the wall to the left and on the wall to the right as you look from behind the bar. The list wasnt spectacular but it was all local, which is sometimes a good thing to see. They had eight brews and they were all Highland, Duck Rabbit, Foothills or Natty Greenes. My standby is the Foothills Hoppyum and it was quite tasty. They use chilled glasses so the beer was very cold. I had to use my hands to warm it for a good ten minutes before beginning to enjoy the beer.

I have heard good things about the pizza but I wasnt hungry. The pizza of the day looked delicious with pesto sauce, portabella mushrooms, feta cheese. Mmm. I may come back and try the pizza somtime but if I want Foothills or Nattys, I will just go to the source.

Went here the other night with my wife for diner. As far as the beer goes they had a nice selection of all local beers on tap. I counted 7 in all from Highland, Foothills, Natty Greenes, and Duck-Rabbit. They were all regular offerings but the price for a pint was resonable at $3.50. The service left a little to be desired, the waiter was slow and after we ordered or intiall drinks and food it was like an act of Congress to get him back for refills. They were open to suggestion however; the first Hoppyum I got was in a pint glass so cold I had to let it sit for a few minutes before I could drink from it. But when I ordered my next one I asked for a regular glass and actually got it for once(usually the waitress/waiter say ok but then bring back the same cold glass)
The food was okay, I got the garlic fries as an appetizer and they were good. The pizza was a little off, but I consdier myself a pizza advocate/connoisseur so I had high expectations for the pizza.
Overall the atmosphere was nice and easy going(I remember when it was a bar called Wild Magnolia) and it did not start getting crowded until after 7. If you plan on going on a busy eat out night I would suggest reserving a table because the seating is a bit limited.

Stopped in here for lunch today while I was a few stores away checking out Bestway. Sat at the bar. Nice decor in the place. Alot of stones, vines and everything's made of wood. Very cool.

I got a slice of pepperoni pizza with a salad. The salad was pretty average, but the pizza was very, very good! Great thin crispy crust. Huge pepperonis. Very nice. They had about a dozen craft brews on tap, and all were from NC, which I thought was cool. Highland, DR, Natty's, French Broad, and Carolina Brewing were all there. Nice touch. They had an odd assortment of canned brews as well. Nothing bottled. I think they had a few Oskar Blues in the cooler.

The service was decent, but nothing fantastic. Helpful and kind. I really like this place, and if I get back to this area again (which I guarantee I will with Bestway being fantastic) I'll stop in again.

Recommend.

A relatively small place, that is nicely decorated with trees and vines. It has a really cool atmosphere, very laid back. The patrons seem to be college age and professional types. The pizza is very good, gourmet style. The toppings are very creative ranging from pine nuts to pepperoni. The crust is thin and crispy.
The beers on draft are all North Carolina microbrews and they are awesome. I can't remember all of them but I know they have Natty Green's: Buckshot Amber, Downtown Brown; Foothills: Hoppyum IPA, Torch Pilsner; Highland St. Therese's Pale Ale, Oatmeal Porter; Blowing Rock Ale; Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. They also have a nice can selection ranging from PBR tallboys to Brooklyn beers. All of the cans are recycled and the money is given to charity, which is really cool. I love this pizza place and if I lived closer to Greensboro I would frequent it much more often. I highly recommend this place to any pizza or craft beer lover.

A relatively small building on the corner in a fairly neighborhoody section of Greensboro. Right across the street from the Filling Station. It has a simple but eclectic atmosphere, pretty open with tasteful decor and a low lighting look. You can eat at tables or a very nice old bar. Staff was very helpful on the beers and service was reasonably quick. Some good taste in music, again eclectic. James Brown, The Dead, ska etc., very nice. One big screen TV that's visible from most seats but they were doing political shows instead of sports. Of course, you can't hear what they're saying so why not just give in to a good old Red Sox game? I didn't ask. They had 12 taps flowing which featured Highlands new Cattail Peak Wheat, St. Teresa's Pale Ale and Gaelic Ale and Oatmeal Porter; Natty Greene's Guilford Golden, Southern Pale, Buckshot Amber, Old Town Brown, Wildflower Wit; Duck Rabbit Milk Stout: and Foothills Torch Pilsner, Hoppyum IPA and Hurricane Hefeweizen. It was pretty quiet here on a Wednesday night but they apparently pack them in on weekends. The feature food here is pizza, gourmet type pizza. You can get individual pizzas with all sorts of funky adders for about $11 and larger pies for more. Mine was plenty good, nothing outrageous but an enjoyable munch. Definitely a fulfilling and enjoyable place. $3.50 per pint is hard to beat for great local brews, too! I enjoyed my visit and will definitely head back the next time I am in town. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. This is my favorite drinking spot in Greensboro from my limited experience. Of course the selection is purely locals, no imports or even macros let alone micros from outside the area, but I can't fault that too much. Being a traveller my main interest is the local micro brews so I was very content. They did offer canned beer from a cooler for having with your meal or for take out, this was mostly macros, sad to say.
