Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a dark, creamy, brown-to-black coloring with a thick, dense, creamy, light tan head with great cling and retention. Creamy nose with coffee tones, subtle and smooth. Smooth bodied, delivering a blend of bittersweet chocolate and a touch of coffee, as well as hints of smoke. The aftertaste is bitter cocoa nibs, with a smooth, clean finish. Very well put together.

I'm looking at these older reviews, and either the Flying Goose changed their recipe or I am having a completely different beer. This is one of the tastiest oatmeal stouts, nice roast flavor, smooth, creamy and absolutely delicious. They changed to nitrous for the tap version of this about a year ago, and all for the better. Creamy full finger head, and amazing mouthfeel.

A) Nearly opaque. Very thin head. No lacing .... frown.
S) Chocolate. Coffee. Bready. Nothing robust though.
T) Coffee tones. A light smokiness, hangs just under the radar. But nothing else that stands out.
M) Chewy and gritty, but smooth. The body is not as full as expected for an oatmeal stout.
D) Just an alright stout. Doesn't seem to meet the oatmeal stout criteria.

Opaque black with a dark beige clay colored head. Several rings left by a stubborn layer of retention.

Smells of roast malt, oats, and Hershey's dark chocolate syrup. Tastes pleasantly roasty. Reserved, a bit timid, but pleasant. Dark chocolate that's neither bitter nor sweet. Doesn't exactly go for the gusto but a "cute" beer as my dad would say.

Robust doesn't come to mind but a'ight does.

On-tap at the brewpub in New London, NH. Two finger tan head that fades slowly leaving a trace of lace. Deep amber almost black color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. No detectible nose. Starts mellow, balanced not sweet, slight bitter finish. Disappointing oatmeal stout. The ABV is 6.0%.

On tap at the source on nitro Dark brown with a rich tightly bubbled tan head that’s all about retention. Rich roast malt and bitter and milk chocolate with some earthy hops to counter. Pretty nice stout.

Of the tap this winter offering was an opaque black color. The head was thin, brown, and displayed modest retention, becoming a skim that left great fishnets of lacing. The aroma was soft, roasted malt, light chocolate, wood and coffee. The flavors were smoky at first, blackened malt and coffee, then more chocolate and some weak oatmeal came through. The finish was a little soapy and tongue coating. As it warmed I tasted some cellar-like notes but the bitter elements never seemed quite balanced by enough sweetness. The body was medium, the mouthfeel watery and the carbonation light/medium. I really thought this one needed some work.
