First beer stop on the Get Out Of Texas Summer Relief Tour (first stop was lunch at Cozy Corner in Memphis, highly recommended). Just before five on Wed Jul 18. Easy access from I40 (Church St exit). Goofy wooden carts. Really good selection of locals, nice selection overall. No pricing on more than a few items, which was annoying. Prices a little on the high side, average regular six pack was just under $10, specialty/seasonals were $12-15 for a four pack. Much of their stock is not refrigerated as well. Despite those drawbacks I'd definitely return if I was in the area

One of my favorite shops in Nashville, prime location, definetly recomend it to visitors. If it comes to Nashville, they get it. The store itself gives 80% of its space to wine and liquor, but they do pack in a lot of quality beer in a relatively small area. This makes it a bit unorganized, but its worth taking your time to really look around. Everything bottled (normal 6 pack style) is available in singles, cans unfortunately not.

Great bottle selection, growler station still little limited compared to other places. You sometimes have to hunt someone to get growler filled. Their liquor and wine selection is exceptional, so great one stop place.

Really top notch liquor store near Vanderbilt. Two sides. Low gravity side and high gravity side. Very nice store with a wide variety of beer on both sides. Had Green Flash Silva Stout, a lot of Laguintas, Founders, Stone, etc. Was disappointed they did not have more special release beers from the local breweries but they had a lot of their normal offerings. Staff was at least knowledgeable as to where things were located if you asked for something specific. Definitely should have came here first instead of last.

The big boy in Nashville liquor distribution. Very open and inviting store, but starting to get a little cramped in the high gravity beer area. A very good selection and often has things your local store never got or is already out of. Will be interesting to see how they embrace or ignore the changes in the liquor laws.

Stopped in here on the way back to the hotel, heard I may be able to find some local bottles. Atmosphere was standard liquor/bottle shop with people milling around all over the place. Service was decent. Was asked twice if I needed any help, I didn't tho. Quality seemed pretty solid. I checked a few of the bottles and they were all within their dates. Selection was pretty good but I didn't see any local bottles I was on the lookout for which kind of sucked. Only thing I thought about buying was a special sweet water but I decided it wasn't worth it. Prices were reasonable on most, a few were a little overpriced. Overall a good bottle shop overall, just nothing amazing.

Midtown Wine & Spirits is still one of the best places to go to buy beer in the state of Tennessee. The store has a dual liquor store / beer store setup because of the state's laws.

Liquor store (left side): the beer greats you as you walk in...literally, so be careful not to trip over any of it. It appears the beer set up was an after thought for this liquor store as it is all over the place in the front portion of the store. They are somewhat organized by seasonal releases, local, domestic, imports, belgians, etc. The selection is fair, but for TN it is great! The staff is pretty knowledgeable. If you are looking for a high gravity (>6.33%), this is a good place to go.

Beer store (right side): There is a large selection of low gravity beers. Local breweries such as Yazoo and Blackstone are highlighted, as well as many mainstream beers such as RedHook, Leinie's, and Sierra Nevada. There are a few aisles of beer and a cooler. Inside the cooler area, there are 8 taps with mostly local beers. This is an excellent addition since most local TN beers are available only on draft. The store will also let you build your own 6 pack of singles or will suggest a 6 pack of singles from local or seasonal beers. The service is very nice, but not always the most knowledgeable.

I try to stop by when I am in Nashville, but have to remind myself that they are closed on Sundays. I usually pick up the latest seasonal releases from Blackstone or Yazoo and look for anything that I cannot normally get such as Green Man or Schlafly.

This place is absolutely huge but the beer section is just a small corner. It is a little difficult to judge the selection because TN distribution is very thin compared to states I am used to visiting. That said, the selection was pretty good, consisting of the expected southern locals like Sweetwater & Terrapin, locals like Yazoo and the likes of Stone, SN, Laughing Dog, Schlafly, etc.

Prices were good. Service was friendly although not as knowledgeable as I have come to expect at bottle shops.

Rather impressed on my visit when through town on business. Much larger selection here than what is available in Memphis. On liqour store side had some singles and six packs (with no build a six packs of the 12 oz sizes). Had a number of gift sets although it is that time of year. Beer and cigar store side was really good, had good prices on Sam Smith's and the singles although some individual brands might not be priced the best. Beer store side offers build a six packs although they are priced higher as singles. It's been a while since I visited J. Barleycorn's so I can't do a straight comparison but it is also at least somewhat comparable to this store.

This is my "go-to" shop when I stay near downtown Nashville on business. Crazy TN laws require the dual store set up of the higher abv beers from the lower one. Overall, an excellent selection of beers distributed in TN.

I've had some good service from the staff in nearly every visit. Prices are decent, but my only complaint is that they do not offer case pricing, but just simply add up the 6 or 4-pack pricing to get the case price.

Slightly limited selection of imports, but at least they have many of the standard ones. Overall, one of the best shops I've found in Nashville.

Surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet. Firstly, it is the best place in Nashville to buy beer. The low abv side lets you mix six packs and they now have some growler fills. The selections is pretty heavy on both sides. The liquor store side is nice, bright and clean. The only hassle is trying to get into looking at the shelf of Belgians. And they finally blocked their beer from the sunlight. I nearly always get approached by some of the beer loving employees which is nice. The prices are reasonable. Sometimes there are freshness issues. Stone seems to always be in check but Victory really suffers.

Oddly this place is separated into two stores right next to each other. One side sells liquor and high gravity beers and the other sells the other beer. The beer store will let you take any bottles out of any sixer and mix and match your own. The prices are reasonable and selection great. The high gravity beer side has a good selection to and the prices didn't seem to be higher than normal. I really wished you could mix and match six packs in that store though because I could have afforded to try many more beers. All and all if I were in Nashville again this would be the place I would go to get beer to bring home.

Stopped by Midtown while in Nashville for work. Nice selection of lower ABV beers on one side, and bigger beers in with the wine. Pretty good selection of beer here, lots of American Craft brews and Belgians too. The prices might have been a little on the high side from what I'm used to in Washington DC, but they weren't outlandish. Maybe a dollar more per 750ml. The service was great, and the guy I talked to seemed very knowledgeable about the beers they had there. Highly recommended if you're in the Nashville area.

Atmosphere is good for beer. The low ABV side is pretty big and they feature things such as growler fills, seasonal displays and a decent selection of glassware. The high ABV side has beer highlighted well, not just as an afterthought to wine and liquor.

I've never had an issue with quality or outdated beers seen there. Service has always been helpful - I'm always asked if I need help and when I've asked for more information they've always been polite and helpful.

Selection is very good on both sides of the store, and prices seem right in line.

I like their redesigned website and blog, which keeps you up-to-date with new offerings (and pricing!) they carry and some general interest info on various beers and styles.

Midtown has become my favorite store in Nashville.

Anyone who knows Tennessee knows how lame the beer is here, but this place has the best selection i've seen. They have combined under 6% beer on one side and the "big beer" on the other side, you can get all your beer in one place. The service there is outstanding, the people who work there love beer and know quite a bit about it. I would highly recommend this place and will be going back, just wish it wasnt three hours away. They also have a pretty good cigar selection. They also have growlers of different beers they have selected from local and other microbrews.

The service was incredible. The guy was extremely helpful. When he saw that I was looking for good beer, he brought me a few bottles that weren't on the shelves and recommended a few of his personal favorite brews. He seemed very knowledgeable about craft beer. He even helped me carry my huge haul to my car. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in Nashville. I was able to pick up some limited releases from Boulevard and Schlafly as well as some good brews from Yazoo and O'fallon. They have a high gravity email newsletter and offered to hold bottles for me.

This store is actually two stores built into one. On the left side is the "store" devoted to liquor and wine, and higher alcohol content beers (I believe above 6.3%). On the right side, there is a "store" devoted to beers below 6.3%.

Their selection on the higher content side was adequate. They had an excellent selection of Terrapin beers and they had excellent prices on DFH as well. They featured several large shelves of bombers against the walls and tiny islands of craft beer as well, near the exit. The one downside is that not very many of their more expensive beers were offered cold. One of the employees, a man probably in his upper twenties, was very knowledgeable and had some very good suggestions.

Their selection on the lower content side was pretty extensive. They had beers from the local Yazoo! Brewery as well as breweries from North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, California, and Georgia. They have two stand alone wooden shelves that have random beers from all over. Their cooler area has a good many of these beers cold as well as a few others. They also have a wrap around shelf that runs along the back left side of the store. Perhaps the best part of this store was that you are allowed to make a six pack of whatever you want. I ended up filling three six packs up with random singles and they weren't more than $2.20/bottle.

I'd highly recommend trying out this location. It's got a vast array of beers, especially under 6.3% on the the right side of their store.

Have been here a few times since moving to Nashville.

Quality is hurt primarily by their tendency to keep a lot of their high abv beers directly in the front window. Just dumb. Also, many of their variety packs in the cooler are composed of some pretty out of date stuff - I wonder if that isn't on purpose.

Service is, in my experience, pretty apathetic. Never really been offered any help, and the few times I've initiated conversations about beer, they don't tend to go far.

Selection, however, is very good. They get basically anything that comes into the area, sometimes at the expense of the smaller stores that actually care. Now, whether that selection is out of date or light struck, that I can't tell you. Prices are in line with other places in the area.

Overall, a decent stop for an out of towner or someone in the immediate area, but there are a number of good reasons to go to other places around town that actually seem to care about beer.

This was a nice place to stop on my way through Nashville. It's separated into two sections--a beer store on the right for brews at or under 6%, and a large liquor store with some higher ABV beers. As far as the lower ABV brews, the selection is pretty great, covering a lot of different breweries, regions, and styles. They even have these pre-mixed six pack samplers covering styles like "Citrusy IPAs," or regions. I like the idea of them picking out some brews that they like and selling them in packs to help people get acquainted with particular styles (or spins on or focuses of those styles, like citrusy IPAs) or regions. Service was kind, and somewhat helpful, though they did not go out of their way to help me, though I wasn't looking for too much help either. The higher ABV brews had some decent selection, though they are tucked away in corners of the liquor store on the left. It took me a bit to find them, but they had several breweries and great brews to offer--Oskar Blues, Terrapin, Victory, ST, Chimay, Boulevard, etc. All in all, a good place to visit!

For the amount of space this place dedicates to beer on the liquor store side they pack in some awesome beers. I think the fact that they have to split up the under 6% and over, makes it seem like all they have is awesome beer. I didn't visit the other side as I spent all my budget very quickly.

I picked up 3 bottles of Terrapin Depth Charge, a Schlafly Reserve Imperial Stout(they had the barley wine too), and a bottle of Sixth Glass from Boulevard.

They had a great selection of Boulevard and Schlafly. A nice selection of Belgians, but other Europeans were a little under represented.

Overall a very nice store that was easy to access from the interstate. It's nice that they can offer both <%6> beers as not all places in TN can do so. silly laws

Among all the places to buy beer in Nashville, I'd say this would be the absolute best for somebody who is interested in trying a wide array of beers and doing it by the single bottle as opposed to buying the whole six pack.

Like all liquor stores in Nashville, only beers with an ABV under 6 percent can be sold in the beer store, and the higher ABV beers go into the liquore store. On the beer side, you can take singles out of any 6 packs and create your own 6 packs. This...is...AWESOME. You can't beat that as far as sampling goes. Plus, the prices are pretty good. Between 1.60 and 2.10 for a single, which certainly is reasonable for decent beer. Of course, they have singles of most of the Rogue, Samuel Smith, etc. beers.

The service wasn't bad the two times I've been there. Both answered my questions, but only 1 of them appeared to actually LIKE answering my questions.

One downfall is that you can't break the 6 packs on the liquor side of the store...so for high alcohol brews, you may want to go elsewhere if sampling.

Overall a very nice experience, the staff while not overly attendent on a Friday late morning was there if needed, the selection was good given the location in Tennessee, a market that is just beginning to explore the vastness of the world of beer.

I enjoyed the experience in the store, and the conversations had with the staff were cordial and informative. The particular person I spoke with had some informed opinions on the beers I was interested in and had some nice suggestions given what I was looking for.

Located just off the interstate. Easy to get in and out of and looks new and clean. Due to weird TN laws, the low ABV stuff (<6%) is in a separate store from the high gravity beers. Visited the low alcohol side first.

Low gravity side:
Tons of six packs to choose from. Terrapin, Avery, Sweetwater, Yazoo, lots of German singles, Lindemans, and so forth. Not much help from the guy behind the counter, but didn't really need any. Warm six packs as well as a long cooler full of beer.

High gravity side:
Good sized section of shelving right in front below the huge windows. Nice Belgian selection (Delerium, Gouden Carolus, Chimay, Piraat and many others) as well as American (Oskar Blues, DFH 120 and World Wide Stout, Stone, Great Divide, etc.)

Staff was very helpful on the high gravity side. An older employee I took to be a manager offered to help. He also had no problem helping me get six packs out of unopened cases so I didn't have to get beer that had been sitting directly in front of the window. Another employee also helped me carry my haul to the car.

Prices are a bit more than some places I've been to, but they seem to be on par with the area and are by no means exorbitant. I definitely enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back on my next trip to Nashville.

Midtown is close to downtown, is very clean and not sketchy for the area, and they have a great beer selection. Make sure you check both sides because TN has ridiculous alcohol laws if you didn't know. They could have a better selection of singles on the low ABV side, but they have some great choices in the liquor part. Many different Belgian and Trappist beers, and very reasonably priced for the area. In terms of employees, I have never asked many questions of the people working there, but they were helpful enough with the few questions I did have. Decent place.

Easy to get to from downtown. Tennessee beer store with low ABV beers in door to the right and high ABV beers, wine and liquor in door to the left. I have always had great customer service when I have called in but it is hit or miss when actually in the store.

Low ABV side has most everything you can get in TN. Boulder Beer, Sweetwater, Terrapin, Yazoo etc etc. Not much in the way of singles but they do have some mixed six-apcks they created based on style. Good way to sample a few different things.

On the high ABV side the beer selection is against the front window by the cash regsiters. Large selection of Dogfish Head, Stone, Great Divide and a good number of imports. Nothing spectacular but a decent selection by Nashville stanards.

A good place to drop in on. I prefer Froogal Macdoogal despite it being in the hood and a little more chaotic, but Midtown is definitely one of the two best stores in town.
