Style: Irish Dry Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): not listed

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
A dry Irish Stout named for bike shop owner Scott Fiztgerald. Very nearly like the stuff from Dublin. Fitzy's goes on tap on St. Patty's and lasts as long the stout drinkers allow it to!

On tap at Mackenzie River Pizza in Bozeman.

A nice dark color, teetering on the edge of black, with just a thin brown head to top off the fantastic pour. It's always a nice surprise when pint glasses actually come completely full of beer.

Smells of roasted malts and maybe a bit of toffee.

Tastes very good, full of roasted malts, definite caramel, maybe a bit of coffee in there too. Warmth comes through in the aftertaste, but it nails the dryness you would expect.

Maybe a litlte bit too carbonated, it felt like it could use a few less bubbles, and that contributed to making it feel a little thinner than I would hope for.

I was excited to see this on tap here in town,

This review is from notes taken on August 3,2010.
I was surprised that the Snake River Brewpub was serving Fitzy Stout in cask and I couldn't pass it up.
Poured a nice medium to dark brown with a slight tan head with good retention.
Aroma of roasted malt and dark coffee.
Taste followed the nose with a roasted / burnt malt and coffee taste with a hint of molasses and a slight bitter ending. and very smooth.
This was a nice beer, however, it was missing the stout dryness.
Light body with light carbonation
