12oz can poured into a tulip glass

A- pours a bright and clear golden color with a big two-finger foamy and sudsy white head that retains long after the pour, leaving some nice lacing behind

S- lots of citrusy hop aroma with notes of grapefruit sand orange peel, fresh piney notes follow, very faint underlying sweet malt, clean aroma overall

T- juicy citrus hops up front with flavors go grapefruit juice and orange zest, even a bit of mango. Notes of pine & grass follow, faint underlying toasted malt allows the hops to shine

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a creamy crisp dry finish

O- a nice showcase of simcoe & columbus with just enough malt to let the hops take center stage, juicy and drinkable

Pours a clear, gold color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of citrus hops, resin, slight hops, sweet malt, alcohol, and a hint of tea. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of citrus hops, resin, hint of pine, hops, sweet malt, hint of pale malt, and slight alcohol. Overall, decent appearance, decent aroma, good body, and good blend.

This is a stellar IPA, and one that even has something of a distinctive flavor in the mid-taste. The bitterness is just barely citrusy but almost reaches the point of a red ale or red IPA. The color is deep amber, though the smell is a little weaker than might be expected.

Great floral notes in the nose along with a bready sweetness. This beer reminds me of Bells Two Hearted, great balance between citrusy hop flavors and bready malts.

Cracked a can open and the hop scent hit the nostrils right quickly. This was just a very solid hop-forward mix of floral and citrus flavors, with pine secondary to my taste buds. Maybe most notable is that it was just very clean with no off flavors that I could detect.

This might not *stand out* among strong West Coast IPAs, but it could land solidly *within* that field.

I'd like to compare this side-by-side with Dale's Pale Ale. Both great beers in that gray area of, "Is this a smooth IPA, or a strong APA?" Would buy again.

Incredibly clean clear pour. Light golden with big round baubles of bubbles releasing the the zenith. Soapy cream head that sticks around for a bit before succumbing to patchy baldness, shedding traces along the edge of the glass as it recedes.

Nose is sweet and juicy, featuring citrus up front and maybe a bit of creamy mango.

I don't know if subdued is the word here, or nuanced, or subtle or what, but a bomb this is not. Soft and lilting it draws you in with soft whispers of perfumed hops and a light sweetness without betraying the bitter grapefruit underneath. A bit of mango perhaps and a lightly toasted biscuits.
Where this really knocks the socks off, however, is just by being incredibly refreshing and smoothe and easy. Light carbonation comes in does its job and leaves leaving a light creamy body that goes down before you even realize you've swallowed.
The can lists this as an IPA, but in the sidebar mentions medaling in the strong APA category. As an IPA, this is a no-frills basic enjoyable example. As an APA it's fantastic (I know the lines are pretty arbitrary anyway). The bottom line is this is a really good beer and one that drinks easy and tastes good. What more could you ask for?

I was surprised by this one. A perfectly good IPA, along the lines of Hop Nosh, Perpetual, etc. Nice hoppy smell and taste, with a little bit of dank. But where it raised my eyebrows was with the mouthfeel. It's very smooth and creamy, similar to Hill Farmstead beers. Impressive!
