On tap @ Twisted Timber, Meridian ID.

Pours a dark but clear amber/brown, with an off-tan head that settles to a cap. There are a ton of Belgian yeast notes upfront in the aroma, with lots of fruitiness and malt, some spice and touch of alcohol. More caramel malt breadiness unfolds on the palate, spice is subdued and there is an underlying dark fruitiness. Some alcohol heat here as well. Fairly big-bodied.

Overall this is kinda one-noted for me, and doesn't lean sweet enough or fruity enough for me to rate it higher. It is, however, a malty straight-forward Belgian strong dark ale.

Bottle from Toby. Muddy brown pour, creamy beige head. Pit fruit and molasses , thick mouth feel. Not sure of the vintage, but it was a pretty decent representation.

On draft at Wyoming's Rib & Chop House.

The beer is tawny brown to burgundy hued with a thin ringlet of light tan head. The aroma is nail polish, merlot wine past its prime, overly ripe plums, heavy booze. Not good. Cautiously and nervously, I took a small sip, which confirmed my suspicions. Abominable, awful, wretched. Incredibly sweet and boozy, with so many flaws it makes my head spin. Punishing. Ow. Avoid.

Growler bought locally for $12.50

A great looking beer when I poured it into my goblet, a clear red colour, good sized head of foam that leaves good lacing behind.

The smell is very malty..bready malts, some caramel malt sweetness, got some fruitiness in there, dark fruits, some alcohol.

The taste is pretty awesome, especially when I swish the beer in my mouth. Malt forward, see above, fruity, spicy...seems to have a peppery kick to it but not too much. No hint of any bitterness but in no way too sweet. A slight warming after the swallow of medium bodied, on the light side carbonated Quad.

This is a very tasty, warming and enjoyable brew to sip on. Snake River did a fine job going Belgian here. Worth the cost of the Growler.

Had on tap tonight at Bier Thirty in Bown Crossing..

Pours with a fairly good light tan head.... nice lacing... The brew is clear deeeep amber almost walnut.

Nose shows promise... Rich and malty... toasty and a bit bready... slight caramel rounds out the aromas... a bit of raisin with warmth.. Let this one warm up to make it really bloom.

Flavor is similar.. a bit of peppery and possibly some clovey notes... just enough bitterness to balance the malts... no real hop flavors as expected....

Body is very good.. solid medium with appropriate carbonation.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one and would LOVE to see it in bottles... or even CANS!! YUM.
