As another reviewer pointed out, beer is given a large area within the store, but the selection still seems like less than it should be. Gary's is still the best selection in the area as far as I've seen (a bit more thorough than the bottle king up the road). Plus the store is beautiful inside!

Gary's has it all. Beer, liquor, and gourmet snacks to pair with. Craft selection is huge, large singles section and cooler, although prices are a bit higher than Bottle King a mile up the road. Staff seems to be spotty and if they don't "know" you, don't expect to get any special treatment.

Visited Gary's for the first time. Very impressive win/liquor store. HUGEEE selection of just about everything. Super clean, accommodating place.

Anyway, onto the beer aspect of it. The very left and back left of the store when you enter is the beer area. The fridges have the standard BMC stuff then to the left starts the craft cold selections with a window for bombers and singles in the middle. Good selection in there.

Behind the fridges are the craft 6 packs which I'd rank up there..tons of variety in 6 and 4 packs from basically every brewer the distributors in this area carry.

Then on the other side of that rack is more bombers with some awesome stuff I never had seen before today. Anderson Valley, Mission Brewing, etc.

I will say, they are a good $1-2 more expensive than the Bottle King down the road due to the 10% off for NJCB members so as a non member you kinda get screwed a bit. Worth a stop in, but unless youre a member of NJCB it's not worth it to regularly shop at Gary's.

Great atmosphere, solid selection of standard craft beer. From my experience, the beer management gives you the run around about the really good stuff and then screws you. Over priced as well. I would go back here but after hearing multiple stories about shipments coming in and not coming in only to be told that its all gone...I hate that so I won't go back. Bottle king is a mile up the road and is better in my opinion.

I was advised to visit this place by my 'Beer Sensei' roughly a year ago. It's a good place to pick up some good craft beers, and it's less than ten minutes from his house. Talk about convenient.

The place is beautiful, clean, and well-kept, and there is wine as far as the eye can see. Beer is kept at the back left, and there is a surprising amount of it.

They keep the 'NASCAR' beers separated from the craft beers, which is good in that you don't have to filter out a lot of stuff you're not interested in to get to what you're looking for.

They offer a pretty reasonable selection of craft beers, in many styles, from many countries and many states. The prices are reasonable, not way overblown like you might expect from a place that looks like this.

This is a place that I'm not going to go out of my way to get to, but if I' in the area, I stop and pick up some of my favorite craft beers.

I always enjoy going into different stores and shopping around and seeing what they have to offer.

The store is beautiful very spacious as well as clean. They have a very large assortment of wines and beers as well as cheeses and other snack foods.

When I first walked in there I really liked it, everything was well labeled easy to find. When I walked over to the beers I spent some time seeing what they have and since I live in Florida I love seeing new breweries.

I spend over 30 minutes in the store and had the employs walk by me and not a single one of them asked if I was looking for anything or if I just needed help in general. They looked at me and kept walking.

I wasn't to worried about the service at all cause I did enjoy the wide variety of beers they had especially all the Jersey locals. But I do like to chat with people and have some good recommendations.

Overall, I would totally go back there and see what they have to offer at a later date in time. Cheers!

This place is called Gary's wines. If you're looking for a bottle of wine or an expert to talk to, you need to come here. For beer, it is not bad at all. There's a better place in Boonton which I'm not sure if I'm allowed to reference in this review, but it rhymes with Quicker Outset Fine Tellers. ;)

If you're there on the right day you will get one of their beer guys. I've never been there with two of them present, but I believe there is more than one. These guys do know their beer and can run you through their selection. But let's be honest, if you're registered on this website, you probably know more than they do.

Most "normal" consumers are overwhelmed by their selection; you won't be. Not that it's bad, it's pretty good actually...for a wine store.

Been going to Gary's for a while now. Decent selection. Stock is usually up to par, had 2 week old IPA from Utah which is pretty good compared to other stores with 3+ month old IPA/DIPA on the shelves. New bottles coming in to switch things up & the occasional "surprise" on the shelf. Decent assortment of 750's/bombers, domestic & imports. Case selection has increased over time so that works when I need a fridge stocker. Good amount of COLD 6 packs. Every once and a while you'll get a special release bottle months after release date sitting on the shelf. I've noticed the price gouging has chilled a bit in this store. Thank you

EDIT (2/6/2012);
For a while now there have been 2 gents when I stop in on the weekend that know beer & are very helpful. Great guys and that has made me appreciate this store a little more.

Anothero ne I made a quick stop into recently. I tried to hit up as many places as I could along the way and this one I literally drove right by so I had to stop in. Nice clen store I have to admit with a pretty solid selection consolidated to a couple of rows. Good bit of six packs from around the region with Southern Tier, weyerbacher, smuttynose all well represented. Some solid 750's from Allagash as well. Staff was quick to say hello the second I walked in and asked if I needed anything twice while I was there. Overall a solid stop I have to say.

Garys has a good selection of 750's and Bombers, a nice organized set up, and a clean new location.

I stop here frequently but only when I am passing by. For all the space they devote to beer their selection is actually very small. In particular they have a limited supply of micro/craft brews and locals brewers. Instead of using floor space on 5 cases of 40 different brews, they have 20 case of 10 different brews.

So while certainly worth a stop on your way by, espeicially for there over sized bottle selection, you can get a bigger selection in the area very near by.

(From notes)

This is definitely a solid place, and I was actually pleasantly surprised by the offerings. Seemed like basically an upscale wine warehouse that happened to carry quite a few great US micros and a smattering nicer imports.

Had a range of bombers, 750s, and six packs of US micros. Sadly no single 12oz. selection. There was nothing terribly rare in the overall selection, but quite a few nice touches. Found it to be more than to my liking. Certainly can do worse in the surrounding area.

Nice lineup of imported Belgians, nothing rare, but solid stuff. Had a few of the Mikkeller lineup as well. Some Germans, and had a lot of Unibroue.

I wasn't offered service, but I didn't go looking either. As a note, I found there to be quite a few more six pack offerings available in the refrigerated section.

Overall, a really quality place.

Very large fridge section and a long single isle of warm beer. Lots of Allagash, Avery, Southern Tier, Mikkeller, Green Flash, Left Hand, Bear Republic, Smuttynose, Weyerbacher, Moylans, Victory, etc... Chris was the beer guy I met and has been very helpful putting stuff aside when asked. Prices are pretty standard (nothing too crazy) aside from the DFH120 and KBS which were on the high side.

Worth a trip if you're not too far from Wayne. It's only 3 miles off of Route 80 and if there is something at another Gary's location that is not at the Wayne location, they can have it transported over to Wayne if you call in advance.

I was in Jersey for business and had the morning to bounce around to a couple of the better BA beer stores in Northern Jersey.

I was looking for some of the rare Captain Lawrence beers and some gems to add to my cellar.

I got lucky here and found four Black Ops for $20 each (a bit pricey for a beer that goes for $18).

The service was nonexistent at around 10:15 in the morning. I even had a hard time checking out. Nobody wanted to wait on me.

Lots of beers available here. Singles and by the case. Also wine, food, and other items to compliment a party.

Though not as impressive as the Gary's in Madison, I have found a few gems at this spot. It is fairly close to Wine and Bev Depot in Totowa, which is clearly superior, however I make a point to stop in here once every few weeks to see if they have anything I'm not finding elsewhere. The selection is good, but not that large. this was the only place I found Brooklyn Black Ops '08, and have found tons of stuff from Avery, Smuttynose, etc... Again, they have some really great stuff but not as much as the other good places in the area. They don't have cheese samples as often as the Madison location.

The selection is probably the best that you'll find for a beer store. There is a large wall full of over a hundred different bombers/magnums, and they have an enormous refrigerated section filled mostly with six packs about three times the size. The refrigerated section also includes sake, growlers, and a few bombers and seasonal six packs at the far right end. There is also a decent selection of glassware available along with various gift baskets and packages of all shapes and varieties. There may even be an option to have your own gift baskets made, I'll have to check up on that.

The beer guy there is excellent and always helpful with new suggestions. It is a tad bit pricey, but worth it as there is a very good selection of bombers and six packs. I switched over to this place after exhausting the selection of my other local beer stores and have been very pleased with it so far. If you live near the area and are a fellow beer enthusiast you owe it to yourself to check out.

Checked out Gary's Wine and Marketplace a few weeks after the grand opening. I was pleasantly surprised at what I had seen.

Gary's is a huge place which specializes in Wine, but the craf beer is surely not forgotten by any means.

After you walk in, the beer can be found all the way to the left against the wall. There are many coolers filled with sixers. All the local craft breweries are represented here and some others: Founders, Ipswich, DFH, Dixie, etc.

Bombers in an isle at the end of the wines. Plenty of good stuff to choose from: Eel river, Anderson Valley, Southampton, Rogue, Thomas Hardys, Kasteel, Stone, HeBrew, Coney Island, etc.

Glassware is also available.

Give this one a try, surely something for everyone to enjoy. I wish you could mix and match the sixers. That is the places biggest downfall.
