This is not your average "beer geek bar". It more like your British suburban local mixed with a Baltic Sea cruse ferry and an LGBT bar with a vast selection of beers.

I went there on a Friday evening, which I discovered meant both "Karaoke nigh" and "informal LGBT evening". This created an interesting mix of people - young longhaired metalheads, middle-aged transvestites, the after work ladies, thin skinheads, a small family reunion and a few butch women. The atmosphere was happy and very accepting.

I must empathize that is only the Friday nights that is this "gay", but you might check out the homepage as the bar is home for several club evenings. For instance, some nights are devoted to electronic music, goth/industrial or indie pop. Those clubs are held in the basement but one could expect a certain clientele of people those nights.

As for the food, Haket share kitchen with neighbour sushi restaurant Yamoto. They offer some pub grub too, I have heard.

And now for the beers. Haket work closely with the distributor Wicked Wines, meaning that they offer a fine selection of Swedish (full assortment from Dugges, most Nynäshamns beers et al), Denmark (Mikkeller, Ølfabrikken), Britain (Meantime, Heather Ales, Fullers, St Peter's, Traquair...), Norway (Nøgne Ø), Germany, Belgium, Japan and lots of US beers (Flying Dog, Ommegang, Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Rogue, Left Hand, Anchor, Brooklyn...). All in all some 200 bottled beers. New beers are introduced every week.

The kegs offer an ever rotating range from the 5 pumps. At my visit, I noticed Flying Dog Gonzo, Krusovice Imperial and Bitburger.

Besides the wide assortment, the prices are low (on a Swedish scale): It is said that this is the cheapest place to have American craft beers in Sweden; I have seen beers for twice the price at some Stockholm beer bars!

A minor flaw: I asked one of the bartenders for "something really bitter" and I was recommended a bottle of Bedarö Bitter, a fine but ordinary English bitter-styled ale.

All in all, I highly recommend this place, although it can get very crowded and a bit loud.
