Poured into a snifter. An opaque dark brown color with a modest tan head that settled but left a few wispy laces. A soft coffee aroma followed with subtle maple, milk chocolate, and roasty malt. The taste followed suit, with a nice mix of coffee, roasted malt, and maple. Not too sweet and surprisingly light on the palate. Very smooth feel.

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin off white to tan head. Light lacing slides into the beer. The smell starts off with the coffee up front and then the maple underneath. Light roasty cocoa bean graces the underneath nicely. The taste was moderately sweet carrying a nice sweet semi-sticky and semi-roasty aftertaste. Smooth roasty finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a wet sweet feel. For being as fresh as it is, I’m impressed with the almost sessionable sort of feel to it. Hard to believe, it’s 10 %, doesn’t feel like it at all. Overall, another impressive Imperial Stout by Lawson’s. Definitely would have again.

Relatively clear syrupy coffee black with thin red and brown edges and a large, fluffy mocha mound leaving a persistent, milky mocha blanket.

Smell starts with chocolate covered banana and smooth, almost peanut butter-esque roast coffee and a milk chocolate malt. There's almost hint of wet cinnamon french toast as it warms.

Taste translates well starting with the addition of sweet with woody maple that's not too rich or sugary, with that round coffee and moderately roasted malt. It's overall rich and luscious with a little dry chew in the finish of this medium bodied brew. There is even a bittersweet cocoa element that actually wins out after the swallow.

Thanks to mjytown08 for this red-foiled 750ML bottle. I miss the days I used to have regular access to Lawson’s great beers. Split with my wife, no bottle date.

Black. Nose is coffee, roast, with a sweetness that I’d attribute to the malts if it didn’t say maple on the bottle.

Coffee Fayston Maple Imperial Stout tastes like breakfast…at Ember’s. The sharpness of the coffee right up front is fierce enough that it almost buries the maple, as the sticky sweetness just hangs on at the finish. Nicely thick, complete lack of alcohol, & would be nice to have a pint glass next to the waffles on Sunday mornings.

And that’s it. Not enough maple, no subtle lovelies. I hate to call a good beer a disappointment, but with the Fayston lineage, my expectations were cruising altitude high.

Bottle purchased at the 2016 Anniversary event poured into a fluted snifter.

Dark, opaque, appears thick and sultry. Foamy head, the color of well made cappuccino foam.

Aroma: Not hard to find the maple or coffee, well done, combination with the rich roasty malts is perfect.

The maple flavor comes through fairly strong and coffee takes a bit of a backseat. Base beer is perfect for adjunct flavor additions, roasty malts, bitter chocolate, a hint of dark toffee blends nicely with the maple and coffee and does not block them.

Smooth and rich, light side of moderate carbonation suits this brew well.

Very tasty brew, aroma is my favorite aspect.

Black pour, larger mocha head, smaller webs of lace. Fresh ground coffee, light maple notes, roasted malt cocoa aroma. Rich coffee up front, dark cocoa, lighter maple and dark toffee notes. Medium to thicker body, slick mouthfeel and a cold brew aftertaste. Exemplary.
