L: Cream soda with a tangerine tint. Clear with plenty of tiny bubbles. Delicate lacing clings to the glass.
S: Subtle with notes of sugar and citrus.
T: Balanced to begin, citrus appears quickly and distinctly; though not overwhelming, some pithiness on the end that rounds into some malt tones.
F: Light and clean.
O: It is honest to it's label. Enjoyable walk but not one I'm looking to often take.

2/24/23 16 oz can purchased from Washington Beer Store.
Aroma is certainly grapefruit while also being sweet with papaya/peach.
Taste followed the smell, but not as sweet. Leans towards drying off then mouth. Slight hint of sweetness.
Really good overall, glad to have tried this. Hopefully i can find the Double Sunshine some day.

Double Sunshine is my all-time favorite so I look forward to this special version. I was at the mother ship this past weekend and they 'only' had this for sale on Sun; no regular Double. I did however see it (regular Double) available at the Warren General Store that same day; seeing as I had purchased a case and quite a bit of other beer I thought it best not to push my luck w/ the wife.
Surprised that the recent reviewer from PA was able to find it locally, I haven't been able to find it in Mass.
Canned 2/2/23, served cold in a Lawson's tulip...outstanding color, I do pick up the grapefruit (I have a jar of DelMonte ruby red grapefruit pieces every week); I may be sensitive to it?
Great smooth Double Sunshine taste, goes down nice and smooth. I rate it slightly less than a regular Double only because the feel is a bit less than what I feel w/ the regular.

Double Sunshine Ruby Red Grapefruit from Lawson’s. 16 oz can. Purchased from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA on 09/02/23 for $ 5.00 (Including tax) - $ 0.313/oz. In reefer at store, stored at 34 degrees at home. Reviewed 22/02/23 (Review 3047). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of can “CANNED ON 01/17/23“. Served at 45.1 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 56.4 degrees.
Appearance – 4.5
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), clear.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.6 cm, aggressive center pour), floral white, high density, receding to a jagged 1.1 – 2.0 cm crown, and a partial rocky cap. As the head recedes, small irregular pieces of foam remain on the glass.
Lacing – Good! Wide band of microscopic to small bubbles with a couple of drag marks. See also above.
Aroma – 3 – Smells slightly sweaty – NO Grapefruit! No malt, no hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 4 – Begins lightly sweet like a ruby red grapefruit, well balanced with the malt and hop bitterness. As the temperature rises, some grapefruit flavor begins. No ethanol (8 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Weak gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Disappointing. I eat a couple of cases of Ruby Reds every season and I was really looking forward to that flavor and aroma. Otherwise, this is an excellent DIPA – just not what I was expecting.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $5.15. Canned on 01/17/23, so this is very fresh - just 15 days old.
Look: Pours a very nice rich golden / light amber color that is almost perfectly clear. The beer has an eggshell-colored, small-bubbled head that is gradually receding. Nice steady carbonation of small bubbles rising up the glass.
Smell: Notes of grapefruit and juicy fruit gum. The grapefruit flavors smell both juicy and rindy/pithy. Some spicy, peppery notes also, along with some green bell pepper on the finish after swirling.
Taste: This is really tasty. The ruby red grapefruit flavor tastes so real and the beer showcases all the different parts of the grapefruit. Up front, it's a bit juicy yet relatively dry. The finish is moderately bitter with notes of the grapefruit membranes and seeds, as well as the rind and pith. Eventually, some maltiness can be detected. I wonder if this beer has more than just pilsner malt - perhaps some two-row or caramel malt? Regardless it's really tasty and while it does let the hops and ruby red grapefruit shine, it's a well-balanced beer that is dangerously crushable at 8.0% ABV.
Feel: It has a medium mouthfeel with a bit of slickness/oiliness.
Overall: This is a superb beer. It really hides the 8.0% ABV really well. And the grapefruit flavor comes through in a very delicious and natural-tasting way (probably because they used real fruit to make this beer). It's a very refreshing beer. I've had some other Pale Ales and IPAs that express strong grapefruit flavors without adding any actual grapefruit (for example, Peak Organic's The Juice American Pale Ale). However, I would say that this is one of the better grapefruit beers that I have had and probably hands down the best one that uses actual grapefruit.

Regular Double Sunshine is in my top 5 beers of all time, so it’d be hard to improve on that. This one is a solid variation, though, for sure.
I can see my fingers through the brown rust colored buddy, with a hint of red hues. White fluffy lacing on top and down the glass.
Smell is dank hops, citrus, grapefruit, a rich of sweetness, papaya. Full hop flavor, tropical, juicy, dank, grapefruit, a bit of booze in the finish, with bitter citrus rind and hop resinousness. Medium mouthfeel, and a full bitter coating finish, this is a treat.

Pours a clear gold. Thick foam. Fruity aroma. Literally tastes like sunshine. The perfect blend of hops and malt with a little grapefruit finish. Smooth with light bitterness. This beer may have ruined other beers for me.

Poured from a pint can, the body appears as a yellow-orange color. Nice initial head and lacing throughout the tasting.
Nose follows beer name as a juicy, dank grapefruit aroma dominates. Very pleasant.
Taste follows nose as the dank grapefruit returns along with its the base beer’s delightful bitterness. Swallow finishes smoothly rounding out the edge and letting the bitterness deliciously fade.
Those tasters wanting an avalanche of grapefruit will be disappointed, but those drinkers seeking a delicious, bitter IPA will be delighted. Highly recommended.

Appearance: Clear, brilliant light amber color. Frothy white head, big bubbles, good retention.
Aroma: Grapefruit with pine note.
Flavor: Grapefruit, pine some tropical fruit. Alcohol noticeable. Moderate bitterness.
Mouth feel: Medium body. Drying. Warming.
Overall: Interesting take on a DIPA. I've had some that use Blood Oranges, which I tend to like better. Good looking beer in the glass. Grapefruit aroma and flavor with some pine and tropical fruit mixed in. Noticeably warming, which makes it a little less drinkable but right up the alley for the DIPA lover. Well done.
