Bottle purchased at the 2016 release at MRG poured into snifter on NYE.

Pours deep copper/brown with a surprisingly vibrant tan head of big foamy bubbles. The head settles into ring around the glass.

Aroma is full powered real maple syrup with a hint of booze and dark fruits.

Flavor is smooth maple, rich and complex, dark fruits like fig, sweet toffee and a hint of booze.

Mouthfeel is full bodied, smooth, bit of warmth, light carbonation that perfectly suits the brew.

Overall a treat, the perfect late night sipper on NYE. Enough sweetness to balance the alcohol and depth of flavors. A unique and special brew.

Wow, this is such a unique "beer."
I mean, come on! No water?!?
Mr Lawson has given me some great drinking experiences, but this one is incredible.
It pours a brilliant new penny copper with a bit of orange fire blazing through. Tiny head immediately disappears. A sexy, graceful liquid that moves in the glass. No lacing. Almost like a sherry in the glass.
Aromas move between maple, bourbon, and some lite caramel and toffee peek in. Not overly sweet in any of these flavors but more of a warm, smooth sweetness.
Taste is awwww. I am watching friends try this with me. Eyebrows are arching. Glasses are slowly being lifted away from lips and lifted to the light again for a second glance. There is a mixture of smiles, head nods, one sick jawed friend just mutters "Wow, that is awesome."
The maple sashays forward, gives a warm embrace and then lets a creamy caramel flavor move in. Some bourbon, a very subtle spice note, and some warmth round this out. But this sweet drink never crosses the line into one-dimensional sweetness. never cloyingly sweet, rather a journey through the range of sweetness that high quality maple syrup can carry.
No carbonation. Smooth drinker. Think fireplace, smoking jacket, overstuffed chair. Alcohol warmth is pleasing and not at all hot.

Bottle #1372 of 1500 from June 2015, poured from a caged & corked 500ml bottle into a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark coppery brown color with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains maple, dark fruit, caramelized malts, some alcohol and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with strong flavors of maple, dark fruit and caramel. Then a hearty malt character comes in along with some alcohol sting. There are some flavors of oak and chocolate in the background. The hops presence is very mild but complementary and brings a good balance for a beer such a high ABV. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, low-to-medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, very strong kick, good representation of style, I’m thinking I should have aged this one longer, but it is still a very good beer to sip on.
