this one from Lawson's is a little sweet for my taste. I realize it is called 'maple nipple', but the sweetness even exceeded my expectations. the look is a nice rich brown and golden ale.

On tap at the Mule Bar. They poured this into a slim chalice. The appearance was a dark copper almost brown color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated immediately. Messy lace. The aroma had a big sweet maple up front. Nice ample nuttiness. Smooth caramel malts. The flavor leads maple to nutty sweet with a semi-sticky malty to maple syrupy aftertaste running into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with an exceptionally smooth semi-sticky feel. Low carbonation. Overall, practically one of the smoothest American Strong ales that I ever had. Yes, I know that’s due to the maple, but hey, gotta give great credit to this one.

Poured into HF wine glass, a nice amber red/brown burnt orange with some off white film. Maple maple maple. This smells and tastes like maple. Somehow it's not overly sweet.
Brown sugar too.
Great mouthfeel

based on the reviews below, the most recent batch is different from previous batches. appearance is an almost transparent golden amber/brown with an off white head, no lacing. maple sugar, caramel, toffee, nuttyness on the nose. taste follows nicely, caramel/toffee sweetness, some sappy maple, woody notes as well as a touch of the hops coming through. mouthfeel is on the light side of medium, but coats nicely and displays the flavors well. all and all this is the stickiest sweetest maple tasting beer ive tried.
