12 oz can from jrc1093 into Boiler snifter.
Canned on 10/23/19

Silky dark black with a nice pillowy head of beige receding to a thick ring with pools of bubbles resting on top.

Aromas of sticky maple sap and camp fire. Some slight spice or dry cinnamon in there as well. Has very faint suggestions of French Toast if you use your imagination.

Flavor brings some roasted malt, nuttiness, pine, then maple sap and slight maple syrup, with hints of brown sugar and caramel.

Feel is slick and medium bodied, with a mild carbonation and no heat present which is impressive at 10+%.

Overall less sweet than I anticipated but it's a clean beer with great attributes. Pretty good stuff as expected from Lawson's.

Pours jet black with a brown head. Deep espresso nose with a hint of maple. Sweet and chocolates with roast. Subtle maple comes forward toward the finish. Smooth, silky finish. Full-bodied.

Very lovely imperial stout.

Pours a deep rich black. 1 finger brown head. Decent head retention and there's some lacing on the glass as the head dissipates to a ring on the edge of the glass.
The nose is a nice rich maple aroma. It is backed up with a slight smoke aroma and a hint of chocolate.
Taste - Maple, up front, that does stick around the whole way. On the back I get a slight smoke, a slight chocolate, and a slight warming that lingers in throat.
Smooth up front, with the warming on the backside. As I said before, the warming lingers. Full bodied.
Solid, delicious, tasty, great stout for a cold winter night.

Had on tap at Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier yesterday. Pours black as night with a head that is solid brown, thing and leaves legs on the glass. Smells deep and rich, tons of coffee. Flavor starts very sweet like molasses, chocolate in the middle, big roasty note at the end, bitter. Heavy body beer that demands to be sip, enjoyed over the course of about 30 mins to let it warm. No big indicators of maple syrup in this one, if you didn't tell me it was in it I would have never known. No alcohol present so for 10% ABV this is awesome. Recommend!

Can dated 10-28-19 into pint glass. Pours an inky opaque black with a modest but persistent tan head. Yep, looks just like an Imperial Stout should. Initial impresion is a really smooth, medium-thick bodied Stout with coffee, molasses, dark chocolate, and dark roasted malts. Sorry, but I'm not getting a ton of maple. It has elements of sweetness that are there at the sip, but then gradually vanish into the more bittersweet realm. Mouthfeel is thick enough to be smooth and stout-like, but not sticky or cloying. Finish is actually a little bitter, but refreshingly so. This is an impressive effort from Lawson's.

Poured from a can, dated 10/22/2019. Picked up a four pack, I'll drink some fresh and keep some to age a while. (Can says "Drink fresh!")

Looks great, a viscous black with dark tan head. Foam fades to a scattered film and ring around the edge, with some wet lacing.
Smells boozy, chocolate and carmelized sugar, black roasted barley. And maple syrup. Of course.
Tastes great, big roasted flavors, earthy hop spice, cocoa and caramel and maple.
Feels thick and chewy, heavy body and leaves a viscous coating that dries out nicely. Can taste and feel a bit of alcohol heat, though maybe that would change if it weren't so fresh.

Overall, fantastic. Glad I finally found this locally! Will be interested to see how it develops with some time to sit too.

On tap at the Black Back in Waterbury Vermont.

A - Poured into a Lawson's Finest tulip a thick deep brown almost black with a one finger creamy mocha head that faded to leave a thin halo and clouding.

S - Aromas of deep chocolate and light coffee with super faint maple notes. Really, this is a nice stout but needs more maple.

T - Very nice dark chocolate here, like a melted candy bar. Rich toasted malts and deep roast. Good slight sweetness and deep chocolate. Not much maple but a shit ton of dark chocolate. Very nice stout.

M - Nice mouthfeel for a big stout. ABV is hidden wonderfully. Super nice and smooth mouthfeel with a light carbonation.

O - Overall this was a very good stout but where's the maple? Really could use more mapleguava but this was delicious.

Big thanks goes out to beeruser for sharing this one at a past Random Sunday Tasting! Sampled side-by-side with the bourbon barrel version! Served from bottle into an Aroma’s snifter. Poured pitch black with a half finger brown head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, roasted malt, molasses, powdered chocolate, Yoo-Hoo, and smoke. The flavor was of sweet malt, roasted malt, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, molasses, and smoke. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. Having had this side-by-side with the bourbon version one could definitely tell that they were both completely different animals. While this one was not quite as complex as the bourbon version (which one might expect) it still managed to work really well with what it had going on. The Yoo-Hoo on the nose of this one was really enjoyable and actually brought back childhood memories of shaking the shit out of those bottle to suspend the chocolate at the bottle of them. Glad we didn’t do that to this beer as I would have hated to waste any of it. Another really well done brew by these guys that I would absolutely love to try again in the future.

Pour jet black. Aroma roasty, chocolate and caramel. Tastes as it smells. Hard to taste maple. Very thin feel.
