beautiful looking brew on the pour and the hoppy scent was amazing, but has a bit more of a bite than other Lawson's options. aftertaste lingers and the mouth feel was a little on the light side.

awesome looking beer, bright white head left ridiculous lacing. had this on tap, super tasty. great balance of citric notes - orange, grapefruit, peach, hint of mango - and sweet bready and honey malts, some herbaceous character and hit of piney on the finish. mouthfeel is solid. great offering!

On tap at Three Penny Taproom.
The appearance was a rusty copper color with a bar pour's kind of slim white foamy head that slid off immediately leaving no lace.
The aroma had some sweet orange pulp, somewhat brightly moving into a sly bitterness and then the pine needles come in to wrap around nicely for a fantastic balance.
The flavor was moderately sweet yet embracing a sturdy sort of bitter intake to combine and lead into the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch over with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate. Slight astringent and bitter pine needle sort of finish.
Overall, really nice DIPA that I would love to have again.

one of the first lawsons beers not to totally wow me. not only did it seem unbalanced in an unflattering way a little bit, especially in the finish, but it also is one of the only beers i have had from them that doesnt stand out in any way, its not that different or unique or special, which i always expect from these guys now. a little color to it, well short of red, but somewhere in that rusty orange spectrum, nice and heady, good clarity, plenty of carbonation. smells and tastes really pine hoppy, sharp like pine needles, not quite astringent, but bold to say the least. there is a sweetness from the malt that works well with it on the front end, but sort of runs out of steam before the finish commences, and it ends up being harshly bitter, and less hoppy in terms of flavor than the vermont standard. i appreciate what they were going for with this one, but its not the kind of ipa that has made them famous, and its not the kind i like to drink nearly as much. maybe better in a deep winter context, christmasy and strong, piney and all, but i hoped it would be on par with the sunshine beers, and its not even close.

Definitely super bitter, as advertised, but a sharply medicinal and lingering aftertaste. Tons of earth and pine, decent malt backup. Not a bad beer, but it tastes and feels like a homebrew.
