I had this bottle pretty fresh poured into a pint glass
The appearance is golden typical ipa look
the smell is interesting hoppy and well rather nice
it is not that massive hop smell but very interesting
as far as taste i really like this strain of hops and would like to try more stuff like this
or maybe a mix of some more bittering hops with this and see how that comes out
i feel after brewers taste this beer they are going to be trying some stuff with the new zealand hops
overall i would rate this beer pretty nice and a must try for the hop head
as long as you are an IPA fan this will be a happily tasted brew

Jade IPA pours a hazy, light amber with a medium sized creamy white head on top. The foam fades away slowly leaving lines and spots of lace on the glass.

The aroma is hoppy with notes of grass, grapefruit citrus and lemon peel. Some earthy funkiness is also present.

Each sip of this medium bodied beer is soft on the palate, dry with effervescent carbonation. The flavor is mainly lemon citrus and a touch of grapefruit. In the middle there's a sharp almost pepper spice flavor. The hops are balanced with a nice biscuit malt and a touch of tropical fruit. It finishes moderately bitter and grassy. Once gone the grass and lemon citrus linger on the palate.

A very tasty beer that's rather dry and nicely balanced.

Appearance: Pours a very hazy golden honey color capped by a couple of inches of foam; excellent retention and a smattering of lace

Smell: A tropical fruit salad of an aroma, with ruby red grapefruit, mango and pineapple

Taste: The malt is unobtrusive here, except to the extent that it lays a sweet platform on which the hops can explode with tropical fruit flavor, with mango, ruby red grapefruit and pineapple flavor; the bitterness builds, after the swallow, adding a peppery, herbal character to the profile

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: This IPA showcases the Pacific Jade hops to their utmost; a delight for anyone who likes the style

Thanks, wildcats10, for the opportunity

Bottles from the Warren Store, consumed once back home, reviewed from notes. Golden in color with a rich bone-white head. The Jade brings all the tropical lovely stuff I’ve come to expect from the NZ varietals - kiwi and mango with a big floral contingent and some peppery citrus zest. Pale and caramel malts bring a light sweetness and a nice, even grain flavor. Medium in body and carbonation. Balanced bitterness to finish. Loving the IPAs that Lawson’s is bringing to the table - some of the best anywhere.

22oz bomber, courtesy de @blackie as he travels the eastern seaboard in search of something that doesn't suck

Served in a hilliards can-pint, light golden straw body with a nice frothy head. Showcasing the NZ Jade hop - herbal, fresh citrus zest, peppercorn. From my limited exposure, Lawson's is making some of the best IPA's on the planet - this is a really nice showcase of a rather unusual hop that you definitely don't see too much of in the NW. The finish has a really light bitterness with a nice clean hop zest.

I'm making a prediction...2013 will be the year of New Zealand hops! They're already starting to show up in some of the most highly rated beers of 2012.

A: Gorgeous golden-orange-yellow with a huge, foamy, soapy, fluffy, bright white head. Huge lace and great retention. Such a creamy, inviting layer of bubbles.

S: Wow. NZ hops are something special. The aromas are unlike anything grown in the U.S. or Europe. Huge floral, resiny qualities with pungent whiffs of tropical fruit. "Dank" describes it well. The burst of fruit is like a freshly cut mango. It's that real.

T: Needless to say, very similar to the nose. The hops are SO vibrant. Massive tropical fruit. The hop oils immediately cling to every millimeter of the mouth leaving behind nothing except sticky, resiny hops full of bright, fruity flavors. The hops are so seriously delicious and dank that it's difficult to describe. At the same time, you get a bit of earth, cedar and pine/fresh sap. I cannot get enough of this beer. Better than a "5." Up there with Susan from HF, in my opinion, and it's the NZ hops that allow this beer to be this good.

M: Incredibly smooth. One of the greatest feels from an IPA that I've experienced. It's something about Vermont that allows every aspect of hoppy beers to shine. The power of the hop is accentuated so well. It's gotta be the water.

O: There isn't much else to say. I cannot imagine that the other offerings from Lawson's are better than this but I also cannot wait to try them. This beer is really this good. Almost perfect. I love NZ hops!!!

Picked up last Friday at Beverage Warehouse. One of the few times I've waited in line for beer.

Pours a cloudy orange/blonde hue with a frothy white head into my glass. A buddy commented that modern IPAs and DIPAs seem to be brighter and cloudier than those just a few years ago.

There's a citrus bouquet in the nose. I'm not sure about the profile of Pacific Jade hops but I'm hoping there's more in the taste.

Acidic with grapefruit as the dominant citrus flavor with mango (?) as the other flavor. Crisp. Still quite fresh.

Lot of bitterness in the back end. Warms the throat even at 7%.

Definitely worth waiting in line for this. It goes quick though!

A: Pours a hazy medium golden yellow in color with some orange highlights and light to moderate amounts of visible carbonation near the surface. The beer has a two finger tall pillowy white head that slowly reduces to several small to medium sized patch of thicker larger bubbles, a very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer, and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of hops - some citrus/grapefruit and some spicy/black pepper with just a hint of earthiness.

T: Upfront there is a light amount of caramel malts but that is quickly dominated by a light to moderate amount of citrus/grapefruit, tropical/mango, and spicy/black pepper hops. Very light amounts of earthy hops are underlying the entire taste. Very light amounts of bitterness which fades quickly.

M: Slightly shy of medium bodied with slightly more than moderate amounts of carbonation. Hints of very light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Extremely well balanced between the hops and the malts - the sweetness and the bitterness balance out and make this an extremely easy to drink and enjoyable brew. The alcohol is well hidden and the beer does a very nice job of highlighting the Pacific Jade hop.

22 oz bottle courtesy of Kyle. Thank you for sharing this!

Cloudy unfiltered golden yellow with some long lasting stickage and some stringy lace.

Earthy, green onions, lemon, and biscuit malts.

Interesting hop here: almost tastes old without being old. Muted green onion and vegetal notes, and a crisp bitterness at the finish that only lingers briefly.

Bubbles on the tongue, appropriate carbonation and medium bodied.

Another well executed Lawson's beer, even if the flavors don't fit my wheelhouse. The hop profile may turn some off, but there's no qc issues or any other major dings here.

Bottle courtesy of Jeremy. Thanks!

A: Very cloudy straw color. There’s almost a film on this. Great legs, but this is ugly.

N: What. the. hell? Is this a bad bottle? Burnt onion powder and a flavor that the group described as stale, overcooked broccoli. Vegetal. The hops are, uh... More onion. Some citrus...I think?

T: Slightly better, but that’s not a sterling compliment. Earth, biscuit, pine, and a moderate spiciness. Onion power is less prevalent, but then all the sudden, oh, god, the sharpness. Please someone stop the astringency. Stop. Ugh.

M: Sticky. A good thing normally, but then it becomes the worst part of the beer because it cause the beer to stick to the palate and remind you of all the dry unpleasant flavors. Need water.

O: I don’t know if this is a bad bottle or what, but after seeing this was named after the daughter, I had to wonder if they don’t like their girl? Bad, bad, bad.
