Big thanks to BeerMeFitz for bringing this to Chicago.

Fluffy white head that leaves moderate lacing.
Bright opaque amber.

The nose is full of grapefruit rinds, woody herbs, and pine resin.
The aromas are full and aggressive.

The bitterness is rather sharp and stabs at the palate.
Flavor is reminiscent of rosemary, sage and grapefruit.
The malt backbone is difficult to detect.

The feel is refreshingly carbonated and full bodied.

This brew does a great job of showcasing Pacific Jade hops. I thought the hop presence was over the top, but at the same time I found the hop profile, both flavor and aroma, to be very different and therefore exciting. It was very difficult for me to describe the nose and palate, so I wrote what came to mind. After writing this review I read other reviews and agree that there is a floral presence that I described as sage, but lavender might be a better comparison. This brew is clearly a hop head cream dream.

650 mL bottle poured into an Allagash chalice.

Appearance - Very cloudy orange body without a very impressive head. Some bubbles on the surface, but it looks a little undercarbonated. Sticky lacing and a few surface islands.

Smell - Dynamic blend of hop aromas. Mango and tropical fruits are the strongest, but a close second is a simcoe-like aroma. Grapefruit, too. In the back is a slightly herbal hop aroma that reminds me of Double Sunshine.

Taste - Grassy and herbal hops are more prevalent here, but the tropical fruits still persist. I wish I knew which flavors the jade hops were providing. Nice blend of hops, overall. Malt presence is nice, just a touch of sweetness to balance. Healthy grassy hop bite in the back end.

Mouthfeel - It is a little bit undercarbonated. Makes it a little less crisp than I'd like, but I'm still trying really hard not to put this one away in two or three gulps. It's a little bitter, too. My wife found it too bitter, likening it to a gratuitous nipple slip in an otherwise classy movie.

Overall - Another excellent offering from Lawson's. I can't get enough of VT IPAs. Lawson's provides consistent quality in their IPAs with enough hop variation to keep me seeking them out.

Huge thanks to Dat for this awesome hook up. 22 oz bomber poured into my SA perfect pint.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden/orange color, with a nice 2 finger tan head. Aromas provide a nice mix of citrusy, grapefruit, some grassy malt with a nice hint sweet mango. Not an overly pungent nose, but a nice balance of aromas. Flavors follow the nose almost to a "t". Some nice floral noted round out the taste. Again, not an overly hopped IPA... just really well balanced. Mouthfeel is awesome. A crisp, medium body, with just the right amount of carbonation(maybe abit on the lower end... but work nicely with the overall feel). A bitter, dry finish.

Overall, these types of well balanced IPA's are a great alternative to hop bombs(which I've been known to enjoy as well). Lawson's does a nice job with this one. Awesome that I got the chance to try it(Thanks again, Dat!), and would definately recommend.

it poured a goldenrod yellow. somewhat cloudy with a medium head that dissipated to a thin lace.

it smelled like a grapefruit put on some lavender cologne for a night on the town and then went swimming in grapefruit juice.

it tastes heavier on the malts than i would normally prefer but somehow shines through with a lingering mix of alcohol and bitter bitter hops with a touch of smooth citrus and an ever so slight hint of florals. its extremely well balanced and i prefer an unbalanced hops.

the mouthfeel is outstanding. it sits forever. its smooth to drink and thick on the finish.

overall, i would drink a hundred of these. its definitely a top 10.

Out of my Long Trail Brewmaster's glass, 22oz bottle.

A- A very bright golden straw color. Very nice clarity, with a frothy white head. Tons of lacing, and the head retains very well. Has a nice glow to it.

S- A fairly muted scent of grass, light citrus, and peach. While I expected a bit more even from a single IPA, it is still has a nice aroma.

T- Very nice and smooth at first, the hops slowly fade into presence with some light bitterness. The hop profile is fairly perfumey to me, with a slight dryness. I almost get some lavender flavors.

M- One of the stronger points of this beer. Good body and carbonation, with just the right hop flavor. Very well balanced.

O- Overall this is a pretty solid IPA. While It's certainly not my favorite hop variety, it is quite different and interesting. The base beer is very nice, but could just use a bit more hop smell/flavor. If you like a nice crisp, dry IPA, this is a great beer for you.
