22oz bottle purchased at the Lawson's Farmer's Market bottle release last week. Poured into Lawson's snifter.

A- Pours a dark brown black that appears a mostly opaque black in the glass with some transparency around the edges. About a half finger of off-white head with a slight brownish hue appears after pouring the subsides at a moderate rate to leave a flat top and some spotty lacing. Nice consistent carbonation.

S- Greeny hops, toasted malts, some light chocolate. Not your most aromatic beer, but a nice balance.

T- Greeny slightly earthy hops, some light grapefruit citrus, a bit of nicely balanced chocolate and toasted malts on the finish followed by some more hops. Nice balance, the more I drank this the more I liked it.

M- Medium bodied, nice carbonation, very easy drinking.

O- This definitely isn't the best black ale or the best Lawson's offering I've had, but it was still very good. It was very well balanced and highly drinkable. I found myself liking it more and more while I drank it and even consumed an entire 22oz bomber without a problem. I'd gladly buy another bottle of this if given a chance, but wouldn't go out of my way seeking it out.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Not quite black. Thick off white head. Retains for a long time. Nice lacing.

Smell - Grassy hop. Roasty. Smells nice.

Taste - Way downhill here. Hoppy, but thin, bitter, and grainy. Roastiness very strong, but really intense in every disappointing flavor.

Mouthfeel - Bitter and thin. Well carbonated.

Overall - A second disappointing beer from Lawson's on the night. What the hell.
