Consumed Fall 2015. Didn't quite hold out long enough to wreck this at Thanksgiving.
Pours brown leaning into that dark red mahogany towards the edge kind of color, tan head 1/4". Big boozy rum barrel nose had me a little tepid going in for the first sip. Beyond that I suppose you could pull pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg kind of fall pie spices out of it.
Taste wasn't as hot or bitter as I thought. Perhaps Bruery's Autumn Maple gave me ptsd, which seems a pro pro since ptsd is most prevalent in the highest standard of living parts of the world and Bruery makes damn good beers (usually). Nice melding of pumpkin and rum, light suntan lotion meets rum kind of sweetness to it. Good drying note from the oak. That really helps this methinks. If you're like some weirdo who beats off to pumpkin beers, you might think the barrel gets in the way, but for me, this might be the best rum barrel beer I've had (Eclipse Rum barrel was shockingly good too) and its definitely my favorite pumpkin beer I can think of.

2013 bottle
A-Pours a thick reddish brown, one finger head
S-straight up rum, nothing else here
T-it tastes like pumpkin spice flavored rum. The rum flavor is predominant, overwhelming almost followed by an above average pumpkin spice flavor.
M-real crisp with perfect carbonation for the ABV
O-As one who does not care for pumpkin beer, this one is pretty good. The rum is overkill and it really only needed a little time to take the flavors but I'll bite.

Pours a dark golden orange color that appears caramel brown in the glass wih mahogany edges and a two finger off-white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Streaks of sappy lacing coat the glass on the way down.
Intense aroma but still very inviting. Smells like a rum soaked pumpkin pie with a prominent barrel presence that's nicely integrated into the notes of a pumpkin beer. Dry charred oak with slight toothpick character but not harsh or overwhelming. The tropical rum spiciness blends well with the autumnal spices, sweet malt and pumpkin pie notes. Rum soaked fruit cake with pumpkin purée, allspice, clove, nutmeg, ginger and vanilla.
Wow, this is a really big beer and you can definitely feel and taste it. Huge barrel presnce with strong rum flavors without becoming too hot or overpowering. Subtle oak and vanilla bean but not too charred or toothy. Spicy rum blends well with the autumnal spices and pumpkin pie flavors. Rum flavor is a little too sweet for my preference but there's a heavy spice presence balancing things out. zesty hints of black pepper, allspice, glove, ginger and nutmeg. The spices and strong barrel flavors take over the pumpkin elements. Shows up more as it warms with vanilla, nutmeg and pumpkin purée. Some boozy heat in the finish but the high ABV is decently masked once the palate adjusts. Could use more complexity and better balance but it's pretty flavorful with a nice blend of spicy rum, oak barrel, earthy spice and desert/pumpkin pie sweetness. Feels more like a barrel aged pumpkin barleywine.
