Thanks to my cousin Sonny for bringing this up from Tampa. Full review notes taken a few nights ago.

A- Very close to stout black pour to a pint glass with just a bit of extremely dark brown around the edges. Light tan head builds up to about a finger with decent retention. Cap falls to a small foamy ring that leaves spotty lacing but not very much.

S- Super interesting and unique, not really like anything I can think of at the moment. Intensely rich chocolate is responsible for a lot of the aroma. Some barrel influence but on the milder side and quite laid back, oak vanilla and slight bourbon, toasty nutty caramel malts.

T- Bourbon barrels upon up somewhat here lending a decent hint of whiskey and vanilla but still on the milder side for a barrel. Super rich chocolate all throughout, base beer brings nice brown sugar, molasses, toasted malts, tons of cereal grain feel. It is like a bowl of cereal with chocolate on top. Hints of caramel, dried fruits like raisins, figs and plum.

MF- Moderately thick bodied with a slightly silky overall texture and a tiny bit of creaminess. Carbonation is on the lower side which is somewhat distracting to the overall experience but the richness of the flavor helps out. Finishes with a slight alcohol warmth.

Huge chocolate and a decent barrel feel lead to a unique brew. The doppelbock base blends in well with these things and it all rounds out nicely. Great yeast and malts with some nice barrel balanced in.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep brown. Medium off-white head. Thin collar.

Smell - Chocolate. Some bourbon. It has a weird aroma. Very nutty. Kinda oily.

Taste - Bourbon. Some chocolate. Nutty brown malts. Weird finish. Kinda boozy. Oak. Slightly bitter.

Mouthfeel - Slick and kinda oily. Medium heavy.

Overall - This got worse as I drank it. Drops off in the finish.
