22 oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a tulip

Pours a very hazy, almost murky dark orange color. Small layer of off white colored head. Average looking lace and head retention.

Earthy wood, lots of sweet caramel, sugary, a hint of like a pellet hop.

Sweet sugary caramel, woody, slightly earthy malts. Defiantly some hop bitterness, but not huge hop flavors. A bit of some citrus and a little of that dank pellet hop flavor.

Fairly thick mouthfeel with a lighter carbonation.

As far as barley wines go, this is just a bit too average. I expected more from cigar city.

Poured from 22 oz bomber into snifter. Bottle dated 2/5/2014.

A: Pours a cloudy butterscotch brown with a small one finger light tan head. Some minimal lacing. Much larger head with better retention on second pour.

S: A nice mix of caramel, butterscotch, and piney hops. A hint of citrus fruits.

T: Punch of bitter hops combined with sweet malts. Honey, caramel, apricots, and biscuits.

M: Full bodied and lightly carbonated. Finish is fairly sweet with linger bitterness.

O: Classic American barleywine. Easy drinking and enjoyable. Not my all time favorite of the group, but very solid brew.
