Cigar City / Hoppin' Frog Dan'l WebsterCigar City / Hoppin' Frog Dan'l Webster

Brewed by:
Cigar City Brewing
Florida, United States

Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 10.50%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
In today’s fast paced world, it is often difficult to stop racing around and enjoy the good things in life that hard-working people deserve. For those who search for this long lost sense of leisure that is reminiscent of Southern living, slow down and kick back with Dan’l Webster. Like the racing frog from Mark Twain’s short story, this Imperial Porter will take you out of the race with its intensely heavy weight. With just a kiss of a new, experimental hop that has notes of orange, chocolate and coconut, and then aged on soft maple wood, this thick and satisfying porter is a great way to forget about the race, getting you one step closer to winning the marathon of life.

Large shared bottles in 2014 & 2015..
Essentially black, opaque body with a decent head.
Full body.

Rich, well balanced flavor with plenty of dark malts and.hints of dark fruits. Very well hidden ABV.

650 mL bottle poured into a wine glass.

Appearance - Deep black body. Nice mocha head. Medium collar.

Smell - Coffee. Chocolate. Lots of wood. Light citrus.

Taste - Really tastes like there's coffee in it. Intense roasted malt. Fudgy chocolate and sweetness. Woodiness throughout. Tingly. Mild hop bitterness in the back.

Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Medium carbonation.

Overall - The wood really sets this apart. Cigar City's influence is particularly noticeable.

Thick, creamy, chocolatey. Loved every sip. The body is what I hope every porter to be.
