Poured a opaque orange-yellow color with a thin but persistent head. The smell is a great combination of the citra hops and rich maltiness. The taste is an initial blast of hop flavor with a long lingering malt finish. Perhaps a bit of a thin mouthfeel but not enough to distract from the flavor. This is overall a great beer for anyone who loves a ton of hops but is looking for a more moderate alcohol level.

Had on tap at Lillies in NYC. Please come to MA Cigar City! Why are you not there but we have useless Stella Artois. Any ways....this is a very fruity blast - not overwhelming with the good. Nice 5.5% er. Good work - and screw you Stella Artois

Appearance: Golden, maybe a tinge of amber and fairly clear, capped by a thinnish, white head.

Smell: Garden variety pale malts with aromatic hops smelling of green herb of the kind bud variety, sharp citrus and some pine.

Taste: Pale malts, minor hint of toasted grains, a bit bready. Little showing of malty sweetness. Robustly herbal, pulped citrus fruits and (again) some pine. Moderate bitterness. Hop flavors and their imparted bitterness carry one through the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: It's a hoppy ale, alright.

12 oz can, canned on 8/21/17. Pours very hazy golden orange with a medium pillowy white head that retains fairly well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet bready malt with citrus hops.

The flavor is sweet malts with citrus fruit and a bitter grassy hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice fruity hoppy pale.

12 oz can...canned 3/23/17 according to the bottom of the can

Pours hazed lighter amber, under a large and frothy khaki cap, leaving all kinds of froth, and thicker lacing all over the glass, nice looking stuff.

The nose is dully of ripe fruits.

Tasty and enjoyable pale ale, with a nice mix of fruity notes and resiny hop notes....with a little perfume/ginger in the finish....yummy stuff...

On tap at the brewery. Golden and clear with a ringing of white tiny bubbles. Aroma is spicy citra. Passion fruit with white pepper. Cracker malt. Taste is like the aroma but lacks as mouth citra flavor as my favorites. Mouthfeel has a longer more bitter finish like a zombie dust and less like a pseudo sue. Overall a good citra pale but a step behind the leaders for me.

Yellow golden color, not too cloudy and not overly hoppy. Great Pale Ale! It is relatively smooth, with a good subtle flavor. This one definitely made me a fan of cigar city

12 oz can with a 23 March 2017 canning date stamp.
Pours with a hazy, light amber colored body topped by a large durable but sudsy head. Sticky lacing.
Aroma: hops at a fairly strong level (think IPA); quite complex with tones of citrus, herbs, pine and grass.
Flavor: less complex than the aroma with dominance by citrusy hops, but some additional tropical fruit notes. Faint biscuit. Mild bitterness for style.
Feel: smooth medium body with soft, medium+ carbonation.

Canned date of 08/15/17

Appearance - Pours with a slight haze and golden orange in color with an off-white, finger width head. Good retention results in a thin, consistent layer of suds atop with a thick ring around the edge of the glass. Fair lacing, mostly consisting of spots and a few broken lines.

Smell - Candied orange, lesser grapefruit, pineapple and a slightly spicy note. Faint white bread malt undertone.

Taste - Smells better than the taste. Citrusy flavor upfront that's quickly met by some woody and floral character in addition to a stale, bready malt presence. Finish lingers with tangerine pith.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low carbonation. Very dry texture, especially the finish, making this a bit of a chore to drink.

Overall - The super dry texture of this beer just doesn't do it for me, and I don't they did a great job at using the Citra hop to its fullest here, either. Would not seek out or buy again.

Cigar City Brewing Co. "Guayabera Citra Pale Ale"
$6/pint @ Union Tap House, Philadelphia, PA on 18 August 2017

Notes: Hazy straw-gold body beneath a two-finger thick head of white that settles slowly into a creamy cap. Excellent head retention and lacing. Citrusy/tropical in the nose with tangerine, pineapple, lime, melon... more. It's a little unusual at first, you have to give it a few sniffs. I wonder if there are other hops in here besides Citra. The flavor follows with a grainy malt base. Very firmly bitter, leading to a dry finish. Medium bodied and crisp. Refreshing and highly drinkable, and also somewhat unique.

Fairly clear golden-orange body with a modest white head.

Aroma is sharply hoppy, featuring primarily citrus, with a touches of dankness and tropical fruit adding depth.

On the palate, the grainy character of the malt is what really keeps this in APA territory (vice full blown IPA), as it's a hop-forward brew prominently featuring Citra. Just enough honey-cracker sweetness from the malt balances out the tropical notes from the hops.

If you think of certain popular Citra single-hop brews (e.g. Pseudo Sue, Zombie Dust), this is far less green and herbal. The balance with the malt is quite nice.
