04/05/18 canned on
Slightly hazy golden with 1-finger foamy white head with decent retention but spotty lacing.
Aroma is strong pineapple and passion fruit with some pine and grapefruit thrown in. Pale malt graininess sneaks in. A little subdued though overall.
Flavor packs more punch with pineapple, melon, passion fruit and tangerine on the hop side with some crackery pale malt grain on the malt side. Bitterness is moderate and refreshing rather than crushing in nature - scrubs the palate for the next sip. No alcohol noted.
Feel is amazingly lean and dry without feeling watery. Light bodied with medium-high carbonation.
Superb pale ale from Cigar City. Super drinkable with a light feel but good punch of flavor.

From the bottom of the can: "CANNED ON: 02/26/[email protected]:14 HOLE IN... 4?"
The side of the can says: "BREWED & CANNED BY OSKAR BLUES BREWERY, LLC"

Appearance: It has a big head and it retains this "root beer float" type of head as a raft on the surface of the beer. The head is off-white and creamy textured with lumps. The body is hazy with a copper color and tons of visible carbonation. It keeps really good head retention.

Aroma: I immediately had to skip the appearance of the beer to start with the aroma because man this beer kicks out some aroma. It starts out smelling like this huge mango scent when the can opens and the beer is poured. Then it manifests into this onion and garlic mixture but then quickly shifts over to what smells like a dusty room and grapefruit. It's a whirlwind of aroma but it takes you along with it. After this starts to settle for a bit the beer takes on a more floral aroma with a hint of lemon. It isn't an aroma combination a person could ever really prepare for. Slowly it starts to let some caramel malt through, then some pine.

Taste: Up front there is this slightly floral caramel flavor with a hint of pine. A light mango flavor comes through and a nice grain flavor.

Mouthfeel: The body opens large and bitter but it closes dry with a slightly slick resinous texture.

Overall: This beer has a ton of character which is awesome, but it also tends to be all over the place. The hop selection seems to be the "Jack of all trades, master of none." It is nice and I would both drink it again and recommend it.

I am a long-time Pale Ale fan, from the days when Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was a newbie. Since then, like most, I’ve become more anamored with stronger and tastier IPAs. However, after a month in which I’ve had Cigar City’s Citra Pale Ale both from tap and from can in the comfort of home, I can say that this is one of my favorite beers and one that I truly look forward to spending some time with during the summer.

Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. can: hazy, golden-honey hue with a sustained, foamy white head.

Very aromatic with strong bittersweet tropical fruit.

The citrus hop is very prominent with flavors of orange, marmalade, and mango with faint grapefruit in the aftertaste. Very little bitterness is evident because of the nice malt balance.

The mouthfeel is soft and rounded with a pleasing faint, lingering bitterness on the palate.

This is an excellent offering from my favorite Florida brewery. I did notice on the can that this ale was brewed and canned by the OsKar Blues Brewing in North Carolina. I suppose that helps with more distribution as my niece in Michigan is starting to see these fine ales and lagers on the shelves up there.

Beer pours a brilliant orange color with just a small amount of head (maybe one finger). The smell is tropical, pine and a hint of berry. The taste is more of that of an IPA and that's okay with me. This beer has a nice mouthfeel and is a flavor bomb for an APA. I wish I could get it locally.. Excellent beer.

12oz can in a nonic pint glass.

It's a slightly cloudy golden orange color with a 1F soapy white cap. The head fades to a thick, well retained film and leaves more soap on the glass. It looks citrusy, even.

Mixed berry aroma. Lots of tropical fruit, some citrus. I'll call them mango, tangerine, peach, and lemon.

Complex flavor profile includes the tropical fruits, lime, sweet pineapple, tangerine, and slightly caramelized malt.

Medium body, smooth as silk feel. Crisp and clean with a bit of lime citrus pucker.

A pleasant surprise. Light and hoppy. There's alcohol in there, who knew? It may come down to whether or not the lime works for you, possibly.
