Reviewed from long-standing notes. Poured from 22 oz. bottle into a Fat Heads pint glass.
A: Pours a crystal clear gold, and forms two fingers' worth of white head with decent retention. Fairly low visible carbonation.
S: Strawberries - both fresh and Strawberry Quik. Crisp light malts with some graham cracker sweetness, and some strawberry Twizzlers. Light vanilla notes make it seem like a strawberry creamsicle.
T: Strawberries - fresh and ripe and candied. More Graham crackers, two-row cracker malt sweetness and pilsner malts. Mildly tart, and just a bit of hop bitterness shows up near the end. Finishes with lingering strawberry sweetness.
M: Light crisp body with good carbonation sensation. Low alcohol presence.
O: Drinkable and not overly sweet, despite all the potentially sweet flavors going on here. Gimmicky maybe, and not my personal preference, but really not as bad as I thought it might be.

cool beer right here, and cigar city is one of the only breweries who can get away with something like this! it really smells and tastes exactly like strawberry shortcake. the malt is built just about right to mimic the cake, and the fruit is sweet and jammy, condensed and cooked down, but definitely real fruit and delicious. surprised they can get so much of this aroma and flavor into such a light beer, low alcohol, light body, blasting carbonation, and really not a lot of mass at all to it, just an easy drinking highly flavorful beer with a lot less residual sugar than it would seem like it should have. lots of strawberry up front with the biscuit underneath it, notes of honey and yeast permeate a little bit too, driven even further by the effervescent carbonation. im not sure how much of this i would really want to drink, but it was a really interesting and fun bottle to share. i like how true it is to the dessert, and how it somehow remains a delicate and light beer even though there is so much going on. these guys do a lot of weird stuff, but they have a free pass to try stuff like this i think, they have more than earned that with the amount of the seemingly gimmicky stuff that actually pans out so well...

22oz bottle
Bottled on: Jan 2016
A: Pours a clear, straw yellow with 2+ fingers width of white head that dissipates quickly leaving almost no lacing. 3.5
S: Aroma is quite sweet, lots of sugary sweetness and big strawberries. It does have a short cake-esque / angel food cake type aroma. 4
T: Doesn’t taste nearly as good as the aroma, although most of the components are there. Pale malts up front, and artificial strawberry flavoring on the finish. Also sugary sweetness on the finish. Not a ton going on, not bad, but just ok. 3.25
M/D: Mouthfeel is lighter side of medium body, carbonation appropriate, drinkability is ok. 3.5
O: Nice aroma, taste was a let down. I know at around 8 months plus its likely past its prime, wonder how it was fresh. As is, its worth a drink but I don’t think I’d purchase another. 3.5

"This beer tastes a lot like strawberry shortcake, which is a good thing considering its name." Brewed in the style of a Munich Helles Lager, with strawberry flavor added. Available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft.
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.
(Appearance) Pours a crisp foamy pastel white head over a moderately hazy straw yellow body with abundant, lively carbonation. Retention is below average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.25
(Smell) Strawberry puree and syrup generates a rich and potent strawberry aroma to dominate the overall impressions, with subtle undertones of grassy hops with a reserved bitterness and light biscuit and cracker malts. Potency is high with an overall sweetness perceived. 3.5
(Taste) The flavor is notably better balanced with biscuit and pale malts forming a lightly sweetened crust of malt and the flavors of strawberry jam and puree, much less a single driving force than the aroma suggested, but a key player in the flavor profile overall, and generates a moderate sweetness for an overall dessert-like beer. 3.75
(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, lightly oily, softly chewy, smooth, lightly dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a medium frothiness and a medium crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, light/medium overall. Balance is very sweet over hoppy bitter and specialty malt body. Alcohol presence is low and there are no off characters. 3.75
(Overall) An interesting beer that does a decent job at making a liquid impression of a strawberry shortcake, but overall very much a dessert beer in itself, despite being respectably subdued in the flavor, the strawberry delivery is very saccharine and does not manage a good balance in this beer. Overall enjoyable, but I don't see the need to revisit this beer anytime soon. 3.75

22oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A- pours a bright golden color with a one-finger foamy white head that has great retention
S- smells of puréed strawberries & sugary angel food cake , underlined by clean toasted grainy malt
T- light fruity sweetness hits the tongue up front, immediately followed by strawberries and strawberry syrup, pretty spot on strawberry flavor for the shortcake filling. Clean toasted backbone balances the light sweetness and finishes semi-dry with a light linger of strawberry
M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish, high drinkability
O- A thirst quenching lager that has just enough fruity sweetness, perfect summertime brew

A: poured from a 22 oz bottle into a pint glass, golden colored with a short white head that dissipates leaving little lacing, clear
S: sweet strawberry, light grain, dominated by strawberry
T: it actually tastes like strawberry shortcake, there's strawberry (the gooey red syrup sweet kind), vanilla sponge cake, and a hint of cream
M: flat Bud Light
O: I don't know how the hell they did this, but the sozzberries taste like snozzberries. Too bad someone forgot about mouthfeel.
