Inspired by traditional German lagers, our Tampa-style Lager is brewed with German malted barley, Hallertauer hops and an authentic Bavarian lager yeast. We combine these ingredients to create a style that’s quite unique to our hometown of Tampa, Florida, but will find admirers wherever a crisp, dry and flavorful lager is called for. Familiar to generations, it’s truly a beer that’s made for drinkin’.

Any chance I get to pick up a new offering (at least to me) from Cigar City, I do it. And it was no different with their Tampa-Style Lager. The only catch, it was most likely my least favorite of their offerings to date. I will say this though, it was a very good tasting lager, much, much better than many. But when compared to those offerings of their I have had, it didn't quite match up well.
Good color with a weak head that dissipates very quickly leaving no opportunity for lacing. Very nice scents of citrus, with a distinct odor of lemongrass that I like so well. A very crisp beer, starts off smooth and ends up more bitter than what you would expect from a lager. I enjoyed the sweet start that it offers as well. Overall a very good beer, just not one of their upper tier offerings.

From a 12oz can, at TPA, watching the thunderstorms rolling through and wondering where my plane is. Too self-conscious to turn the can over and look at the date although, since everyone around me is hammered, I don’t know why. Served in a shaker pint glass.
Clear, dark, dull gold with a scant finger of soapy head. Retention is wholly unremarkable, leaving a fizzy little collar and just the odd spot of lacing.
Mild aroma of sweet cereal. Malty sweetness and Ritz crackers - buttery-rich, but not in a diacetyl buttery sort of way.
Taste is soapy and sweet, with no discernible hop character whatsoever. Straight up malt syrup.
Feel is soapy, slippery and medium-slick bodied. Adequately carbonated, I suppose, but more would have improved its drinkability.
Overall, unlikely to ever seek this one out. It was better than the Yuengling Lager I had afterward, hence the better than average Overall score.

Look: Clear, slightly dull gold. About 1.5 fingers of foamy white head with good retention.
Smell: Cracker malt, orange peel, lightly floral. Mild all around.
Taste: Mild, sweet, bready malt and that's about it. No real hops to speak of.
Mouthfeel: Average, with very high carbonation.
Overall: A completely normal lager. Easy to drink and lacks the corn sweetness of cheap adjunct lagers, but still lacking for anything except pounding without thinking about it.
