Style: American Pale Lager

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This Tampa-style Lager is inspired by the traditional German-style Helles, which translates to “light colored.” Perfect for the Florida heat, it’s a beer that’s made for drinkin’ when it’s truly hotter than helles outside.

This beer pours a crystal clear super light yellow straw color with a loose two finger white head. Retention is minimal and there is some spotted lacing. Smell is grassy and floral, with some lemon and bready malt. Taste is the same. Feel is very light and crushable. The lemon and floral flavor makes it so drinkable. Overall a very nice warm weather lager.

APPEARANCE: Light golden to yellow. Medium amount of medium bubbles rising. One finger+ of white foamy head that dissipates quickly. Very mild lacing down the glass.
AROMA: Almost smells like a Belgian wit beer in a way. Lemony, toasted biscuit, a little grassy.
TASTE: Has very unusual but nice flavor for a lager. Also, lemony, and definitely grassy.
FEEL: Nice bright level of carbonation. On the lighter side for body. Dry finish.
OVERALL: A distinctive, refreshing lager.
EDIT: Ok, this was kind of driving me nuts. Not a Belgian wit I'm smelling. What this beer smells and tastes a whole lot like, to me, is Sam Adams Sparkling Ale. I know it's a subjective thing, but wow! It is VERY close in a lot of ways. Lager yeast vs. ale yeast but still, tellin ya....they are similar.

Hint of an acidic taste in this that I do not prefer in the style

12oz. can served in a shaker pint. Canned 1/18/16. Pours a pale straw gold with a loose, 1/8th inch bright white cap that quickly dissipates into a soapy skim. Clarity is translucent. Nose is fairly clean and grassy with a suggestion of adjuncts. Taste follows nose. Finishes fairly clean with a suggestion of biscuit malts. Mouthfeel is light an body with a pleasant, even carbonation. Overall, extremely drinkable - a great lawnmower beer.

Bright yellow/gold tinge. Slight haze, very slight. Bread, hops, & just a hint of citrus on the nose. light body, grassy & grainy middle. Dry. very dry. Lemony notes carry on the back & throughout the finish.
Balanced. Refreshing. Light. Dry. No surprises. Well-executed, Lager.
This beer makes me feel better that come July on the FL West Coast, I will have this to counter the sweltering heat.

Caveats: This is my first review after years of lurking. Also, I am not a big fan of lagers in the helles/pilsner region of stye, so this is not really in my wheelhouse. That said. . .

Poured from a 12 oz. can in to a pilsner glass, straight from the fridge.

Appearance: Slightly-hazen golden. Poured a two finger rocky white head that dissipated rather quickly. No lacing to speak of, though a small white cap remained through the drink.

Smell: Almost of white grapes, and light malts. No real hop aromas to speak of. Smells almost like donuts or sweet bread.

Taste: Very light body. Incredibly light, almost invisible. Taste is very mild. Some sweetness, and some spice, and also sort of reminds me of the flavor of glue when you accidentally get some in your mouth. Very crisp and clean, there is virtually no aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Roughly the same as soda water, with just a little less carbonation. Which is fine for the style and purpose.

Overall: Not my choice in beer, but I do give it points for how well it accomplishes what it's trying to do. This is a craft shot at, "lawnmower beer," and it executes that perfectly. Great fit for hot weather and physical day, it goes down smooth and is very refreshing. It's probably the best helles I've ever had, but not enough to make helles a style I'll reach for often.
