Notes / Commercial Description:
This Tampa-style Lager is inspired by the traditional German-style Helles, which translates to “light colored.” Perfect for the Florida heat, it’s a beer that’s made for drinkin’ when it’s truly hotter than helles outside.

Poured into a glass from a 12oz bottle.

L - Pours a clear straw, forming a thin white head, and no lacing. Light carbonation.

S - Bready malts and floral hops. Something else is present in the nose, that I cant quite place, but it reminds me of a macro lager.

T - Light breadiness from the pilsener malt, but a sweetness is also present, possibly from the addition of adjuncts. Low bitterness from the hops and no hop flavor.

F - Light bodied, low carbonation, but clean. Mouthfeel is still a bit thin.

O - I would not consider this to be a Helles style lager as it is listed elsewhere, but more like a macro lager.

Appearance: Poured into my Madison River Glass at 35 degrees. A rough pour produced a two finger head with fair retention. The head is creamy and airy, leaving a little lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is a pale yellow. The clarity of the beer is clear with a small amount of carbonation.

Aroma: Corn, lightly toasted malts, and yeast are the primary aromas. The beer has a touch of phenolic aroma, DMS, and green apple.

Taste: Lightly toasted malts, DMS, a touch of green apple and yeast. Additional flavors are a floral and citrus.

The mouthfeel of the beer is light, light carbonation, light body, and a light finish.

Surprisingly, this beer is refreshing. The beer has a gentle hop bitterness that is pleasing to the palate. I would enjoy this beer on a hot sunny day.

Pours a nice light tropical sun color with a slight head and lacing. Aroma had nice tropical hints. The taste follows the nose with a nice tropical flavor. A well made well balanced beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Clear yellow color. Very short lived head very little lacing. Smell is grassy. The taste is slightly sweet with bread and a bit of lemon. An ok beer, but probably not something I will buy on a regular basis.

12oz canned on 1-5-18
Pale golden with a 1/2" eggshell white head that retains as a solid cap. Continuous carbonation keeps it going. Sticky lacing.
Bready, grainy, doughy malt and a clean, spicy hop over it.
Clean, crisp...crackery malt flavor followed by spicy drying hops.
Light bodied, medium to high carbonation. Short finish, balanced and not sweet.
Nice and fresh...brand new to TX shelves. If we continue to receive fresh, tasty product like this I can see it being a hit in the 8 month summer.

As a Tampa Bay Area native, I like to support local craft brewers. Cigar City Tampa lager is truly one of the best beers I have ever tasted. I poured it from a can into a pint glass. It had a 2-3 finger head which slowly receded into a decent lacing, which lasted until the glass was empty. The color is clear golden with a decent amount of carbonation. The smell is slightly floral. The taste is a combination of hops, toasted grains, and hint of orange. This is a very tasty and easy to drink lager. This beer would be a great choice on a hot central Florida day. I highly recommend that you try it if you are in the Tampa area or lucky enough to have it in your local store. You will not be disappointed!
