Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Brooklyn Brewery tulip glass.

A: Opaque and very dark brown. Low visible carbonation, and a finger's worth of deep tan head that lasts well.

S: Chocolate and cacao, vanilla and tobacco. Some lactose sweetness, and rich roasted malts – but not overly sweet smelling at all.

T: Milk chocolate, dark chocolate. Nice cacao bitterness with a milky sweet lactose counterpoint. Vanilla, roasted malts, mild woody dryness and a touch of coffee roastiness. Lighter flavors of toffee and tobacco. It finishes with lingering malt sweetness and roasted bitterness, though ends up leaning a bit towards the sweet side.

M: A nice thick body with fairly low carbonation sensation. The alcohol heat is noticeable but integrated into the other flavors.

O: I enjoyed this one. Pretty tasty, especially for a "style" (or a take on a style) that I don't always prefer.

2015 Bottle.
Deep brown to black, creamy, like milkshake brown foam head. Aroma of sweet lactose and lots of chocolate, roast malt and some hints of coffee. Taste is milk chocolate, vanilla, dark sugar, toffee. Aftertaste is creamy and smooth. Lower carbonation. Overall, a very good milk stout.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Roasted malt, some sweet chocolate, and woody notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with roast, wood, and some sweetness.

Got this one from 7clutch in a recent box. Cheers man!

From a bomber into a snifter
Imperial milk stout aged on Florida cypress wood
Collaboration with the Florida Cattlemen's Foundation

APPEARANCE: A thick pitch black pour yields a three finger, medium looking, creamy, light mocha head with great retention. Midnight black body with no real carbonation evident. The classic Cigar City imperial stout look. Head slowly fades to a full cap and leaves decent lacing sticking to the top of the glass. A ring remains until the end leaving touches of lacing behind as the glass empties. Looks good.

SMELL: Lactose sugar, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, definite wood notes and some light licorice. Good stuff.

TASTE: Lactose sugar and milk chocolate again, with roasted malt flavors up front. A bold finish with more sweet cream and lactose, wood, some licorice and bitter coffee flavors lingering on the palate. To the point and pretty solid.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy and silky on the palate, enough weight for sure, goes down fine and finishes sticky.

OVERALL: A quality milk stout. Heavy lactose presence here, but the wood character helps balance it out nicely. A solid look and feel on this one as well, which almost all CCB stout brews have. Nothing earth shattering, but certainly something worth checking out if you're a fan of milk stouts. Thanks again 7clutch. Cheers!

(form notes) On draft. Pours dark brown, creamy head. Smell is dark brown sugar, dark chocolate, brown bread, raisin. Taste is raisin, dark brown sugar and brown bread, a bit earthy with some backing spices. Good big milk stout, nothing out of the ordinary.

Just gorgeous to look at, and why would it not be, it's an imperial milk stout put out by the crazy geniuses at CCB. I really hope they bring it back again next year, because I need more of this in my life.

Another decent choice out of cigar city. Don't look to far for it, but if you happen by one; take it.
Pour - pitch black, small head
Smell - chocolate and more chocolate
Taste - not great, left hand brewing is better and cheaper
Overall - decent, tacky mouthfeel, ok brew

A good limited run Imperial Stout, but I get very little lactose sweetness considering they call it a milk stout
A decent amount of dark brown head that diminishes quickly. More bitter chocolate/coffee than expected for that style but tasty regardless, more like a good dark RIS. Aged on Florida Cypress wood which adds to the super rich cakey mouth feel. A good one time beer but I'd likely not pay the premium for it again.

Pitch black with dark brown head that quickly fades away. Not as sweet as a typical milk stout and a little bitter. Tons of coffee and dark chocolate come out in this one

Out of a bottle into my tulip. Finally around to reviewing this one.
A – Black as night with a nice chocolate head that hit about two fingers and lingered. Nice lacing down the glass.
S – Milk, vanilla, slight roastiness.
T – Very light sweetness to start with a mild bit of acidity. Coffee, vanilla and milk chocolate. Has a decent amount booziness in it, more than the usual milk stout.
M – Medium body and carbonation. Slick and creamy on the palate.
O – I was expecting sweeter but it is not. This isn’t a bad thing as I enjoyed the strong coffee flavors in it. Not a great deal of lactose and that was okay. Definitely a different brew. Good stuff. I will be looking for more. Let it warm up.

I was really excited to try this beer but what I got was a bit of a roasty, bitter mess that didn't quite know what it wanted to be.

For a milk stout I didn't taste much lactose, instead I got something much closer to a RIS with hints of dark chocolate and an unwanted bitterness.

When poured, it was a nice jet black with a beautiful brown head. But the aroma, while a little milky seemed a bit off putting. It smelled a little bit bitter and a hint of chocolate, but it didn't make me want to drink it.

With how well CCB does stouts this beer did not put all the pieces together. It was kind of a directionless mess that has an unwanted bitter front and a forgettable finish. While I didn't hate the beer (aka didn't drain pour) I wouldn't buy another bottle.

Poured bomber into CCB snifter. Pours a thick jet black with minimal brown head. Head much darker then most stouts. I smell acetone and Expresso. Some slight chocolate aromas as well. Taste is incredible. Nice and thick and chewy. Very smooth with mellow milk chocolate aftertaste. Wow is this good! Very sweet as it warms. Still holds onto its roasted malt character. Overall this is a very enjoyable stout. Perfect wintertime sippy type beer to enjoy in the cold months dreaming of warm Florida. 4.75

A solid stout, but not very sweet for a milk stout. Color is nice brownblack, aroma is almost lacking. Taste is typical stout, but again not really sweet. No aftertaste to speak of, mouth feel is smooth. Try it if you can get it.

22 oz shared bottle.

A rich "Imperial Milk Stout". As expected, a bit sweeter than I'd prefer, but only a little bit. Overall, this has a very good flavor profile. Rich and moderately complex, with even more complexity in the aroma where notes of spices, anise, toffee and light coffee appear.

Thanks to my cousin for bringing me this one. Poured into a 16 oz snifter. Pours pitch black, with a gorgeous 3 inch Mocha head that leaves behind webs of lace.

Smell is dark chocolate, roasted coffee, leather, and hints of tobacco and booze.

Taste starts with a huge blast of expresso and gives you a little hint of the other flavors in the nose, maybe a little black licorice and vanilla also.

Body is chewy as hell, a little dry as it should be, just the right amount of life, and goes down way to easy considering.

Overall holy shi-! Absolutely awesome.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter

Pours deep black with a small creamy khaki colored head. Smells of sweet sugary lactose, chocolate milk & light roast. Sweet chocolate milk flavor follows the noes with some lactose sweetness, a hint of coffee with more chocolate on the finish. Medium body and carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel and silky finish. Overall, a very good milk stout that keeps high drinkability, despite the high ABV

On tap at the brewery. Pours pitch black with a nice dark brown head. Aroma of sweet lactose and lots of chocolate, roast, and even some hints of bitter coffee. Flavor follows that aroma very closely, it's super rich, and has a clean roasty bitterness to finish things off and make you want to come back for more. One of the better brews they've made recently.

The beer pours a viscous looking, inky black color with a thin tan head that fades quickly without lacing. The nose is subtle with a roasty malt sweetness and hint of alcohol once it's warm. The taste is a palate sweeping, viscous, chocolaty malt bomb with light roast and a slight burn in the finish. Although it's kind of a one-dimensional milk stout, it really nails the mouthfeel. The beer starts velvety sweet like most CCB stouts, but that sweetness fills out more once the oak, roasted malt, and booze kick-in towards the finish. For a 9% stout (on a hot summer day), this drinks very easily. I'd say this beer will never make coveted whale status, but definitely makes a solid extra!

Had a taster at the brewery and it was delicious. Smelled and tasted like a mix between an espresso and a rich chocolate shake that used Hershey's dark chocolate and brownie batter. It was very creamy and smooth, hiding the ABV masterfully. I would have ordered a pint but I had a few other pints and needed to drive back to the hotel. If you see it on tap there and like stouts then definitely order it.
