Retired (no longer brewed)
Notes: This beer is a double-barrel aged coffee coconut imperial stout and it is actually a blend of an imperial stout aged in Brandy barrels and an imperial porter aged in Bourbon barrels. The blend is then aged on Buddy Brew roasted coffee beans and toasted coconut before being packaged in 750ml bottles.

Got this one from 7clutch recently. Thanks man!

From a 750 into a snifter
Blend of an imperial stout in brandy barrels and an imperial porter in bourbon barrels then aged on coffee beans and toasted coconut

APPEARANCE: Opaque black pour yields a 1+ finger, looser, very fizzy dark tan head with decent retention. Head quickly fizzes down to a half wisp and ring. Pitch black body with no carbonation evident. Ring and touches of wisp remain but not lacing down the glass. Good color but the loose and fizzy head is a little annoying.

SMELL: Piles of barrel on this one with lots of brandy and bourbon initially. Definite coconut and vanilla aromas there, some sweet cream, oak, and a very light hint of coffee as well. Some roasted character too, but this is mostly sweet vanilla and barrel aromas. Big and bold too.

TASTE: Coconut comes out way more in the flavor initially. Lots of oak, bourbon and brandy, with a big dose of coconut up front. Notes of coffee and pure chocolate as well, with some sweet vanilla cream too. A big and boozy swallow, ushers in a bold and lingering finish of coconut, sweet vanilla, oak and barrel flavors, bourbon and brandy, though the brandy might be a little more pronounced, milk chocolate and some roasted coffee flavors as well. Decadent stuff and quite barrel heavy.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Surprisingly creamy on the palate, enough weight, goes down smooth with a good burn and finishes quite sticky. Lots of heat lingers.

OVERALL: Awesome. CCB kills it again, like they always do. This is an instant gem, and just as good as everyone says it is. The barrels on this one are absolutely decadent and the base stout works great with the coconut additions. I will say that the coffee bean treatment is a little underwhelming, but despite that, this is a wonderful, enjoyable, characterful creation with piles going for it. If they didn’t tell you it was aged on coffee, nobody would care. As much as I love various other stout brewers, such as Cycle, Midnight Sun, Great Divide, Emelisse, etc. (there are plenty more), Cigar City always seems to beat everyone around the school yard. I don’t know what it is. The stouts are great and the barrel treatments are worthy of the heavens. This is another example of greatness. Thanks again 7clutch. Always a pleasure.

El Cat bottle, 3rd edition.

Black-brown, opaque elixir, thin brown rim, legs on the glass.

Right off the deep inhalation there's a lot going on here. Dark fruits, bourbon, oak, coconut, fudge flavors intertwine and tingle the senses.

A nice sip brings forth the dark fruits, dark chocolate, oak and bourbon. The lasting taste of brandy and coconut hover over a smooth. mild, blanket of roasted coffee.

Thick, chewy, fudge mouthfeel with the dark, jammy fruits lingering.

A well done double barreled brew that has many of the signature flavor notes that make CCB on of the best. Wish I had another bottle.

Popped this bottle at an epic Omaha, Nebraska bottle share. Poured into a teku. Everything about this beer was a highlight. Nothing negative to say. Shined in comparison to many other big boy BA Stouts. Highly recommended!

First try was from the bottle, but had a draft pour a few days ago at CCB. Pours dark and thick like most CCB stouts. Nose is sweet with chocolate and some nuttiness and sweet coconut. Thin tan lacing. Mouth is consistent with the CCB stouts, nice thick viscosity. Taste is sweet with booze from the brandy more predominate than the bourbon. Out of the bottle I felt the coconut was lacking, but recent pour on draft produced a nice coconut flavor on the backend. Not overwhelming or as big as some of the other coconut stouts, this is just a compliment. Same with the coffee. The beer is integrated really well, and has good balance. It's a little boozy and given that it should be consumed fresh to get the coconut, you can't really let the heat subside. Great beer, love that they kept the flavors in check and it drinks more like a BA beer than a dessert.

Best looking barrel aged stout I've had, pitch black with the dark khaki head that lingers. Aroma is cocoa, coconut, brandy barrel, bourbon, and coffee. The highlight of this beer is the way the two barrels play off each other. Amazing barrel flavors with cranberry, dark cherry, apple, oak, and vanilla. I get an oily coconut cream throughout that adds sweetness and slick mouth feel. Coffee is in the background and that's a good thing. If this were coffee forward it might dominate the other adjuncts, but they got this one just right. Another home run for Cigar City.

Fresh bottle drank on 12/1/2016

Look-deep dark brown, basically black, thick, medium lacing

Smell/Taste-evolves a ton as it warms, tons of sweet brandy, bourbon opens up, oak, vanilla, milk chocolate, coconut, not much coffee, molasses....really great

Feel-creamy, not super thick and oily but really nice...a hint of booze, but crushable because of the great flavors

Overall-this is certainly not falling off as some ratings seem to be saying. Amazing beer and I want one to age. Well done CCB!

Pours a dark black. Has a prominent aroma of coconut, coffee, and bourbon. Tastes just as amazing as it smells. Has a great feel without being overwhelming. Overall one of the best, if not the best beer I have ever had. I wish I could have more.

Poured from the bottle into a taster. A nice blend of coffee and coconut and barrel, the coconut was on the milder side but was happy to find it was not overwhelming. Great mouthfeel that set it apart from other similar beers.

This is one of the best beers I've had from CCB, very dark like used motor oil with no head. It has a very sweet fruity smell and tastes the same as it smells. Not really boozy, very enjoyable

Popped a bottle of this at Jesse's wedding 2017. Pours black. Brown head, 1/4". Aroma drops all kinds of coconut, bourbon and coffee all over the place, just turn after turn of these.

Chocolate malt, bourbon, coffee and coconut continue to power through, delicious roasted malt tempering it all. Really finds the sweet spot if you will, in that it isn't sweet, it truly is balanced, and not in a people just say that about a triple ipa because that sounds good, I mean the roastiness, the bourbon, the chocolate, the coconut, vanilla it all comes out to really provide a beer being pushed and pulled just the right amount.

They pair an amazingly thick ass imperial stout base and then just blast it through both brandy and bourbon, the bourbon dominates barrel wise, but the brandy seems to lend to some nice warm smoothness counter balancing it all.

Hate to say it, but this is a world class stout and right up there with double barrel hunahpu. Phenomenal.

What an amazing beer!!!! Dark thick pour with minimal head, big thanks to BrianS52 on the hookup. One of the better coconut beers I've had and easily blows the Funky Buddha out of the water.
