2016 beer drank in 2022
Look - black and fairly thick with slight tan head but great rimming and lacing
Smell - dark dried fruit (like prune, dark cherry and fig) covered in molasses along with a ton of oak
Taste - more cherry than expected, chocolate, molasses, slight nut but still a ton of that oak like the smell
Feel - medium full body with a very light carb. Not bad for being 6 years old.
Overall - pretty great blend that's lasted

Got this one from rutger a couple years back. Cheers!
From a bottle into a snifter
Blend #6
Vintage: 2016
Blend of Bourbon BA imperial stout, Baltic porter and Belgian style dark ale, and Brandy BA double nut brown ale
APPEARANCE: Syrupy clear black pour yields a small, thin tan head with lousy retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Only a slight ring remains to the end but leaves no lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Bourbon, oak and milk chocolate on the nose. Vanilla, coconut, toffee and dark, smoky chocolate as well. Bold and definitely barrel laced.
TASTE: Bourbon, oak and milk chocolate with roasted flavors up front. Lots of barrel and some alcohol at the swallow with a bold and lingering finish of bourbon, oak, vanilla, coconut, milk chocolate and bitter chocolate as well. Roasted undertones the whole way through. Flavorful, roasted and barrel heavy.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy for sure, a bit lighter perhaps, goes down smooth with a bit of a scratch and finishes a bit sticky on the palate. Creamy and smooth for the style. Nice.
OVERALL: Delicious stuff overall. CBC comes through in the clutch again. This one is quite barrel heavy, which isn’t a surprise given the blend, but it’s got lots of nuances and plenty going on. Really enjoyable. Worth diving into if you get the chance. Thanks again, rutger!

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.
A: Opaque and very dark brown, with a thin light tan head that fades. A low amount of visible carbonation.
S: Bourbon, dark roasted malts, chocolate and cacao, and vanilla. Oak and tannins, tobacco and dark candied fruits. Mild barrel char. The chocolate and bourbon dominate though. Nice and complex.
T: Dark chocolate and bourbon, oak and vanilla. Brandy and a good bit of oak tannins with the dark roasted malts. Cacao nibs, chocolate-covered brandy-soaked raisins. Mild brown sugar and toasted molasses. A mild hop and roast bitterness with more sticky sweet chocolatey malts in the finish.
M: A heavy sticky body but not syrupy. The alcohol stays surprisingly well integrated, and carbonation sensation on the low side.
O: An excellent beer. It’s not quite as good as I remember Batch 5 being, but this is solid. The bourbon and barrel are quite present but not overbearing. Chocolatey and vanilla-y, but not cloying.

Dark brown-black liquid with caramel colored foam around edge of glass. Strong dark chocolate and coffee smell and taste with a bourbon note too. Good mouthfeel.

Thanks to my lovely wife for bringing two bottles of this back from the CC taproom. And as revenge for going without me, I’m drinking one alone. Don’t tell her. 12 oz. bottle released in 2016.
The pour is dark brown blending into light black with an eighty year old’s white fringe around the edges of the glass. A swirl brings bourbon, strong shot of brandy, molasses infused with brown sugar, & a rich sweetness reminiscent of Belgian chocolate. Nice start.
Capricho Oscura #6 is a Botticelli of barrels. As usual, the introduction of any brandy means that taste is at the top of the pile, underlined by cool, smooth bourbon, blended together with a bare minimum of alcohol heat. The lush sweetness of the base(s) come next, with accents of caramelized brown sugar, maple syrup, hint of smokiness, chocolate, & ends with a bit of spicing that sticks around (cinnamon? Naughty?). Hits the ‘feels just right. Would be better in a 27 oz. stein.
Hey Cigar City, do some of this wild blending magic for El Cat, wouldya? This series has varied wildly, but this is the best of the bunch to date. Excellent beer.

$15 was a bit steep for this 12 ounce bottle, but damn was it worth it! A beautiful blend of some of my favorite CCB beers produced one of the more perfect sipping beers I've ever had.
