Sampled at Cigar City Brewing’s El Catador Club XV bottle share party.
Pours deep dark, small khaki head.
Aroma is caramelly molasses, woody bourbon barrel.
Taste is phenominal! Rich and smooth, notes of dark stone fruit, chocolate, very prominent barrel characteristics, bourbon, a little bit of barrel char. It is quite sweet.
Feel is velvety, yet not super heavy. Very low carbonation, probably because this has been cellared for years.
Overall, great to get a taste of this retired special brew.

Jet black, almost no head but lots of lacing. My god on the aroma here, just massive massive rich fine bourbon notes, charred wood, a bit of smoke. Taste is bonkers with huge barrel characters coupled with equally huge base beer notes of tins of dark fruits with cherry and dates, roasted malt, some more subtle leather. Mouthfeel is full bodied, it’s not motor oil think like regular Zhukov which actually makes it more drinkable. ABV is exceptionally well restrained with good drinkability. Overall, this beer is phenomenal. Admittedly Zhukov is one of my favorite beers, and the barrel
aging treated this own nicely. Stellar.

Spectacular beer. Deepest darkest black pour with a tiny tan head. Booze and chocolate on the nose. The flavor a mix of dark chocolate, molasses or caramel and a bit of booze infused fruit. A bit of heat from 12.6 %abv, but a silky mouthfeel. One of the very best stouts I have ever had.

Bottle at share, courtesy of Steve. Black and slick, small ring of beige head. Aroma is a melange of sweet, sticky notes, vanilla, coffee, marshmallow, chocolate, with a bit of booziness thrown in. taste too is alike a big dessert, hot fudge brownie soaked in bourbon. Tasty.

Got this one from desp59 a while back. Cheers!

From a 750 into a snifter
Barrel aged imperial stout with natural flavors added
Bottle #7

APPEARANCE: Black pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, creamy dark tan head with excellent retention. Pitch black body with higher levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes down to a thick, creamy cap. Ring remains with falling dots of lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Whisky barrel character, sweet vanilla cream, coconut, milk chocolate, dark bakers chocolate, butterscotch and creamy coffee notes. Roasted malts and molasses as well. Lots happening on the nose, and plenty bold to boot.

TASTE: Whisky notes, oak flavors, sweet vanilla cream and coconut with milk chocolate and coffee up front. Sweet molasses as well. Flavorful and enjoyable. Some more creamy espresso coffee and roasted malt flavor at the swallow, moving into a bold and persistent finish of sweet vanilla cream, coconut and butterscotch, dark, bitter baker’s chocolate, coffee, roasted malts some whisky and a bit of alcohol lingers and lingers. This is really decadent. Baker’s fudge with shaved coconut, coffee and whisky on top, doused with molasses. Lovely stuff. Just stellar.

PALATE: Full body with medium levels of carbonation. Super creamy and full bodied. Chewy even. Creamy and silky smooth on the palate, lots of weight, goes down smooth and finishes somewhat mouth-coating. No heat lingers. Stellar.

OVERALL: More evidence that CCB is the best stout brewer in the world. This has everything you could possibly want. A thick, lovely black pour, piles of stout-like aroma and flavor that meshes perfectly with the barrel treatment, and a feel that needs knife to get through. MZ is probably my no.1 stout in the world and this treatment is testament to how well CCB does extras in their stout beer. Fantastic. Thanks again, desp!

Bottle into a snifter appears black in color with a khaki head that fades leaving spotty lace.

Nose is roasty with citrus, chocolate, vanilla and caramel. The tastes has chocolate and almost a nutty anise character before boozy bourbon, oak and vanilla.

This is medium to fuller bodied with modest carbonaion. No idea what makes this zhukov variant “Floridian style” but I like it regardless.
