Style: Russian Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Georgy Zhukov, arguably one of the finest generals of World War II. Opaque black in color, with notes of espresso, chocolate, dark toffee and hints of backstrap molasses. The English hop varietals provide a subtle herbal dryness, and finishes with a hearty slap of roasty espresso. Pair Marshal Zhukov’s with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia.

We brew and release Zhukov's in the summer knowing that a beer of this heft reaches its full potential a few months after release. So save a bottle for the cold winter!

Bottle poured into snifter. Dark, rich in color with brown head that lays on top. Molasses, chocolate, expresso and spice notes are evident to nose. This carries to the palate - the body is thick but not heavy like some others I have had. The hops and modest spininess linger. A nice RIS!!

Poured from a 1 pint bottle dated 7/03/16 (almost 5 months),into a Cigar City Brewing snifter.

Beautiful dark brown fluffy head, with small to large bubbles.Silky jet black in color, with no light coming through the glass.About as slow as carbonation gets, almost none at all. This beer is about as good as it gets,as far a appearance.

The nose is toffee, dark chocolate, dark coffee, dark fruits, espresso, molasses, cherries, faint piney hop, lots of aromas coming off of this one. Some black licorice. It has a very sweet, and rich scent.A little bit of smoke, and alcohol in there too.... Smells like a very good Russian Imperial Stout!!!

The taste is very sweet,I'm getting alot of dark fruits, and cherries.Black licorice, dark coffee, rich dark chocolate.Smokey aftertaste with just enough alcohol blended in.There is a small hint of piney hop bitterness, but I'm sure 5 months of aging toned that down a bit.

The body is nice and heavy, this is a very thick Russian Imperial Stout, but not too thick.Nice warming alcohol feel.Wet finish that leaves your mouth coated.

This is a great Russian Imperial Stout, probably my favorite, definitely in my top 3.I bought 18 bottles of this when it came out,4 for drinking and 12 to bring up north when I move.I really look forward to aging a bottle of this,a few more months, and drinking it on a cold winter night. As far as the style goes, this is a top notch RIS.
