Canned 1/5/17.. Pours copper with 1 finger white head.

Smell is very weak and mild , bit of pine resin ,not much else.

Taste is much like the smell , not very hoppy tatsting or malty , just bland for an IPA especially .

Feel is pretty good medium body , certainly not watery.

Overall we just got this in TN this month and ive heard about it online so maybe I had too much hopes for it, kind of let down , have had many better IPA.. Would not buy again..

So far maduro is the best thing ive tried from cigar city..

This us a classic of the style, and probably Florida's most famous beer. I pick up a sixer every time I can get down here.

It has a big caramel malt sweetness that really stands out but has the chops and hops to overwhelm it mid sip. Citrus, pine, and the whole shebang. This is designed with hop heads in mind and is suitably revered for the effort.

A big, flavorful IPA that improved the beer credibility of an entire state single handedly. Not my personal favorite, but in the pantheon of best in style.

Plenty of reviews on this delicious IPA.
So I give a quick and dirty.

Juicy Citrus, floral, and tropical fruit explode into the nose and palate. Malty sweetness follows as the piney deliciousness comes to the rescue.

Cigar city hit a grand slam with this one.

Pale row, Honey malt, citra, cascade, and mosiac hops come to mind drinking this.

Canned 1/10/17. Pilsner glass.

A:bright copper gold, slow streaming bubbles in the center. Two fingers of bright white head. Excellent lacing.

S: had on tap earlier this evening, and the smell was classic citrus, floral, and hop resin. Very traditional citrus, tangerine, lemon peel aroma. Some mild malt backing it up.

T: floral hops on the arrival, crisp, crackery malt, turns barely sweet citrusy, then lengthy bitter grapefruit peel finish. Superb. Very traditional, classic IPA, a lot like two hearted ale.

M: very well attenuated, relatively low carbonation, extremely clean. Lingering hops.

O: a very classic, traditional IPA, not too hoppy, not too sweet. Citrus driven and mildly sweet. If I lived in Florida, would drink this regularly.

Truth be told I'm a bit let down with this one. I've anxiously awaited this for quite awhile so when my buddy brought home a pack from Florida after his trip to the CFP Championship game, I was super stoked. The nose was super subtle, almost non-existent, and the hop profile was very understated. I picked up just a hint of the orange, but the rest of the expected fruit/hop blast I had hoped for was nowhere to be found. The taste followed the nose, and it reminded me more of a low IBU pale ale. Let's just hope it was an old vintage and not typical of what this beer is like fresh.

I’ve had Jai Alai several times and I had it again on my last visit to Cigar City. It is a really great IPA in my opinion. Fruity, juicy, crisp, with all the IPA hop flavors.

Look: Semi-clear amber with a bubbly two-inch head.

Aroma: It has a piney and fruity aroma.

Taste: It’s a bit sweet, there’s caramel and tropical fruits, orange, pineapple, mango, piney, dank, juicy, extremely good..

Feel: Medium to light body, juicy and crisp

Still one of my top favorite IPAs. And now readily available in TN!
Look of clear dark amber.
Smells of pine needles, lemon and orange.
BIG tropical fruit salad flavors, with just the right touch of honey-sweet. Guava, pineapple juice, papaya, melon and custard.

Gold copper with a very small head. Kind of hazy. Smell is a wonderful mix of tropical fruit, hops, and pine. Taste follows the nose. Also very resiny. Goes down smooth. Little carbonation. Oily at the front with a semi dry finish. Definitely for the hop head. Excellent IPA. Had this six weeks after canning date. Would love to try fresher.

The taste delivers immediately following a promising aroma. I have a bad habit of not trusting clear IPAs, but the amber color is certainly appealing. Jai Alai lives up to its reputation.

12oz can into libbey tulip
canned 11/25/16 a month old
L- hazy burnt orange, thick fluffy white head, that is slowly recedes and leaves beautiful rings of lacing behind
S- piney aroma with hints of tropical fruit, more tropical fruit as it warms with hints of guava
T- sweet caramel malt, followed by a mellow tropical fruit salad, with lightly bitter ever so slight piney finish
F- medium-bodied, real smooth drinking for 7.5% ABV IPA, no alcohol bite and no piney bite either
Overall this is one great drink. I'm really glad I tried this and hope to drink many more

It has its own identity in the big world of IPAs. Pours copper, as stated and has balance of citrus and hop notes on aroma. Taste is exactly like the nose. It is a tad more of west coast style in terms of IBU and mid west style in terms of malts.

I love this beer. I'm a transplant from Maryland to Southwest Florida, this has become my got to beer and absolutely one of my favorites. Great copper color in the glass, hoppy without too much bitterness and goes down too easy.

Poured from a 12 oz can, into a Cigar City IPA Spiegelau glass.

Thick frothy,white,1 1/2 finger head that retains well, and leaves a beautiful lacing on the glass. The poor created a beautiful cascade, that went from the top,to the bottom of the glass.Dark gold / amber in color.Moderate carbonation, that rises fast. The light coming through the glass is plenty, but it is distorted light, and there are alot of small particles floating around.

The nose is very hop forward, you have alot of citrus, and pine aromas. This was the beer that got me started on craft beer, and it was because a friend told me it smelled like really good weed lol.And that fragrance still holds true today! Some earthy notes as well from the hops.

The palate follows the nose, very hop forward IPA.Pine resin, grapefruit, some sweet malts to balance it out.I also get some earthy hop notes.A very nice bitter back end to finish it out. This is a great tasting IPA.

The body is medium, with a good amount of punch from the hops, and the carbonation.Medium dry finish, very smooth going down.

This is a go to IPA for me ,living in the state of Florida.Looks great in the glass, smells amazing, has that great IPA taste without too much bitterness, and feels great going down. This is the beer that got me into craft beers, and I am truly going to miss drinking it when I move to Massachusetts.

Pours smoky copper with a rich thick head in a pilsner glass. Laces the interior as you drink. Aromas of citrus and pine. Up front taste is hoppy but not overwhelming. After taste of citrus fruit comes through slightly bitter and warm. Mouth is full and creamy. Overall this is an awesome IPA, right up there with my all time favorites.

-canned 08.16.16. Consumed 11.10.16 in spiegelau ipa ipa glass.

A: Bright glowing sunset orange with a dense nature. Thin, milky chalk white head of short attention lapses to a skim covering. Moderate paced micro-effervesce.

S: Tropical pineapple-orange is bright with wet citrus. Soft background of grassy hops. Average strength, finishes with a soft dried tropical mangoes-oranges.

T: Flavor was creamy dry oranges and pineapple-citrus. Flowery hops of high level of bitterness. Pine, dry tropical fruit, with a warming sense of citrus alcohol on the swalllow.

M: Medium full creamy with a nice feel.

O: High amount of flavor and bittering hops. Lush, creamy mouthful, good presentation. After 3 months still holds up strong with exception of nose. Definite must try.

L: Translucent, slightly hazy dark orange, almost copper, with a creamy, off white head. Excellent retention and lacing.

S: Quite sweet, both fruity and malty. Juicy blood orange, candied orange peel, mango and pineapple, very biscuity malt with brown sugar, and grape jelly, with woody and herbal undertones.

T: Upfront, you get the candied orange, orange marmalade, some mango, pineapple, and hints of apricot. In the middle, a big push of brown bread, bordering on brown sugar and caramel. On the finish, I get a very distinct grape jelly flavor, though whether this is from the yeast, hops, malt, or some bizarre combination, I do not know. Finishes with a very faint bitterness, some grapefruit and orange peel, just enough to balance it out, although this remains a mostly sweet IPA.

F: A nice, smooth, almost creamy body, with ample carbonation. Drinks very nicely.

O: A really interesting take on IPA. Not really my personal preference as far as IPAs go, but certainly enjoyable to try.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass. Lots of sticky, off-white foam. Transparent copper orange color with a fair amount of carbonation. Soapy lacing as the glass is emptied. Smell is pungent citrus and pine. Taste is overloaded with hops up front but does not linger very long. Seems to take a backseat to the underlying malt by the end of the sip. Far more complex than your average IPA. Mouthfeel is full and the hops continues to bite the back of your mouth after the initial sip. Very good IPA albeit not the best. Would definitely have it again if offered to me!

Poured from a can with a canned on date of 10/5/16; into a pint glass.
Appearance- dark gold, orange with gorgeous floating sediment; thin to medium, white head. Lacing is solid!
Smell - very tropical with strong pineapple notes; teamed well with an orange citrus!
Taste - matches the nose beautifully with the heavy pineapple and orange flavors!
Feel - phenomenal mesh of tropical and citrus sweetness and bitterness; smooth easy drinker!
Overall - supremely made easy drinking IPA and in a can, no less!

Nice IPA. Poured a nice copper-apricot color with fine white head that held for a while. Very nice body with fine carbonation. Not much of a nose, hint of pine. Pine resin upfront with some bitter citrus and some malt sweetness on the backend which is a nice finish.

Fruity, piney and floral hops balanced with fine, almost peppery, malts make this beer a pleasure to drink. It's bold and could be consider as a dipa, it has the profil. It's west coast style even if it's brewed in Florida

12oz cans either poured into a glass or straight from the can.

Appearance is golden and slightly hazy.

Aroma is very citrusy followed by intense grapefruit and pineapple. Smells delicious

Taste follows the aroma perfectly. Citrus, pineapple, grapefruit and I believe the occasional banana .?.?
Mild hops and finishes earthy.

Mouthfeel is mild carbonation, light and crisp.

Overall Jai Alai is by far my favorite IPA.
Great living in Tampa area and having this brew in my backyard.

The best beer in the state and one of my favorites nationally. Beautiful light copper unfiltered color. Superb head leaves a full glass of lacing. Smell is all orange peel. Mouthfeel is full and enough hops to retain a smooth oily feel. Taste is orange citrus initially with grapefruit retention in the finish. 100 percent better on tap than canned. A superb IPA that warrants it's world class rating. And one of my three favorite beers of all time.

Beautiful IPA. It is less citrusy than your average American IPA, but there is a subtle grapefruit that comes through. I pick up a nice malt balancing out the hops with a hint of tobacco. Overall, this is an excellent ale that will be a part of my regular rotation.
