Pours a brownish copper with something less than a finger of head. The nose has bready essence and also a hint of pumpkin and seasonal spices. The flavor has more malt than the average pumpkin beer (even for an imperial). There is also a hint of molasses and something with a slightly sweet edge. The body is hearty for the style.

This is not quite what I expected but it is certainly a well done effort.

This one pours a pretty dark russet brown, with no head or lacing. Looks fairly lightly carbonated.

This smells pretty great- caramel, toffee, pumpkin pie puree, pie crust, nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. All the spices are there, but not overwhelming.

This almost tastes like a lighter barleywine with pumpkin, which is nice. The base beer is actually good, here- with nice caramel, toffee, and a breadiness that reminds me of flaky pie crust. That's cool. The spices described on the label are all there, and described in the paragraph above, so I won't repeat myself. The cinnamon and nutmeg are probably the strongest. There's actually real pumpkin flavor too, which is appreciated- definitely get a feeling of real pumpkin pie here.

This is medium bodied, with a lower level of carbonation, and no sign of booze.

One of the best pumpkin ales on the market, for sure. It's pretty decadent and tasty.

Overdone, and I kind of like that. If you're going to pour nutmeg, allspice, caramel, and raisins into a beer, you might as well go large. The taste is stronger than the nose. It's a pretty beer, too. A dark pumpkin, molasses color. Got it on tap at the Cigar City Brewery.

22oz bottle. 8/11/16 bottle date. Appearance: Brown with a deep amber hue, clear, with a light khaki foam head. Aroma: Nice pumpkin spice heavier on the allspice, nutmeg and clove, with a light cinnamon and vanilla. Light caramel. Very nice Taste: Surprisingly sweet maltiness, a touch of bread crust, then turning to a allspice and nutmeg forward pumpkin spicing. Cinnamon is restrained. Moderate bitterness to balance the intense malt sweetness and spicing. Comes across like a pumpkin spiced piece of toast. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a low to moderate carbonation. No noticeable alcohol warmth. Finish: Toasted malt stand out, with some nutmeg and allspice. Overall: A really well done pumpkin ale that nicely balances the maltiness, spicing, and high ABV. Nice toasted and caramel malt backbone and spicing heavier on allspice and nutmeg, compared to the cinnamon bombs of some pumpkin ales. Alcohol well hidden for it’s strength.

Orange amber, pretty close to pumpkin color, sustaining a thin tan head throughout.

Big squash on the nose, largely pumpkin but less of the pie variety and more of the actual crop, with caramel, and brown sugar.

Taste of tangy ale with pumpkin, cinnamon, caramel, fig and graham cracker sharing the stage.

Good Gourd is balanced and not overly spiced. This is a commendable pumpkin ale that is more in the beer realm than an attempt at pleasing the non-beer-drinking girlfriend that has been begrudgingly dragged along.
