Served from a tap into a snifter glass at Growlers Beer Bistro in Tuckahoe, NY.
A: Pours a clear, mahogany color with a one quarter inch head. Minimal to moderate Belgian lacing.
S: Aromas near cane sugar, crushed coffee beans, and rum with maybe a light mocha note.
T: Tastes sweet immediately, with flavors of roast coffee to mocha and butter cookies.
M: Medium to full bodied with strong effervescence throughout.
O: Really a solid and enjoyable representative of the brown ale style, although leaning in the direction of a milk stout.

Poured from a can, dated 6/13/17.

Looks a nice dark brown with a thick tan head that reduces to a thin layer.
Smell is nice coffee and chocolate roasted malt, minimal hops but a dark earthy tone there.
Taste is similar to the nose, lots of coffee and chocolate, some sweet caramel malt too. Really solid, well balanced flavors. Minimal hops here too.
Feel is excellent, smooth and medium-full and chewy but it doesn't cling too much.

Overall an excellent full-flavored brown ale!

Canned on 5/15/17, enjoyed on 8/1,2,3/17
L: Dark. Poured gently because the can said so. Small sized cocoa tan head that dissipated quickly. Minimal lacing.
S: Oak charred barrels and roasted dark chocolate malt. Vanilla, caramel, slightly burnt chocolate and toffee. A little coffee bean and some cigar smoke in the background. Complex. Had to search for it, which is fun, but I prefer a stronger aroma.
T: Great flavor! Matches the aroma's description word for word. Then add hints of bourbon barrel flavor and just a smidge of Vanilla Coke. Very good!
F: Perfect! Thick but not too thick. Smooth and rich. Thankful that it has a good carbonated bite. Very drinkable by itself.
O: Delicious! My favorite brown ale so far. Lots of character. Wonderfully balanced. I don't know if the name is playing tricks on me but there's a smoked cigar flavor in there and there's a hint of cigar smokiness on the back of my throat that I don't recall experiencing with any other beer. Hmm... How did they do that? $11 for a 6pk at Orange Beach Publix; great local craft selection.

Beautiful dark beer. The first sip has a surprisingly chocolatey (some have said coffee) taste that the aroma gives scant preview. Not bad- A great change of pace.

Pretty good beer by Cigar City. They are a really good brewery, especially when you consider that it's from the South

Overwhelming coffee /caramel mixture that just didn't work for me. Tasted less like an ale, and more like a spiked latte from Starbucks.

Poured from 12-ounce can into chalice. Pretty dark caramel sauce color, with a substantial off-white head. The aromas and flavors of this had me thinking that I was drinking a rich coffee porter. Lots of complexity, with some nice interplay among the notes of chocolate, toffee, espresso, and caramel. It may have been due to the power of suggestion, but I was also picking up some faint hints of tobacco as well. A little sweetness with a touch of bitterness on the palate, with a dry finish. Medium bodied and highly drinkable, and a good complement to a variety of food. In a word, outstanding.
