Pours an opaque black with a light tan head which disappates quickly. Scents of coffee, toffee, caramel, oats, and a bit of grassy hops. Palate is light to and slick. A bit watery and thin. Finishes about the same as the nose with a nutty, espresso, grassy hop wash. Not bad but nothing special.

L: Darker than expected (a beautiful dark brown) with a thin off white color head.
S: Coffee, oats, chocolate and small hints of roastiness.
T: Oats come through BIG time. Chocolate and coffee are in there as well once again with small hints of roastiness.
F: Has a better body than most brown Ales. Very good for the style.
O: This is a very solid brown ale that has more flavor and texture than your average, making it a multi dimensional brew that was enjoyable to drink.

DATE: November 25, 2017... OCCASION: Christmas tree in place, the season's preparations have begun... and a Thanksgiving beer showdown with Forgotten Boardwalk's Morro Castle... GLASSWARE: Stoudts pint... pours a velvet-black body and a fizzing, sizzling off-white head that settles to a smoke ring... not much else going on... deep, rich chocolate-almost like a tootsie roll--with a mild coffee presence that melds with spiced wine and roasted bread malts... smooth, lively, warm at its finish and quite drinkable in its 5.5%... its tobacco-infused, coffee-beaned, chocolate-laden flavor profile is big and appreciable--a brown that is anything but boring... in fact, one of the better browns I have had--I will seek this out again, come next fall...
