Brown with a nice tan head. A little thin in my opinion, but then I like chewy beers. A little heavy on the carbonation too, but then that might be another way of saying I like heavy, chewy beers. Definite coffee, caramel, and malt, with maybe some raisins or prunes in the background. Another one in the "plus" column for Cigar City!

Appearance: Poured with a nice thumb of head that sadly didn't stick around, nor did it lace. The body is a deep, thick chestnut brown with slight hints of red oak colour.

Smell: Has a musty dry malt smell accented by some mild roast coffee notes. Warming helps the case on this one quite a bit. Everything here is good, just wish there was more of it.

Taste: Pretty much the same as it smells, only with a lot more kick. The beer starts with a restrained dry malt that turns to dark chocolate and coffee notes with a slight smokiness to the experience and ending with a mild earth hit in the background to more coffee.

Mouthfeel: A nice coffee aftertaste that while dry works well. The transistioning is good and the carbonation is solid up until the very end of the beer. Nothing that clobbers you on this one, but at the same token perpetually interesting.

Drinkability: A little bit on the heavier end of medium bodied, but still very good. I wouldn't say in quenches your thirst, nor would I say it is a beer for all times, but it knows what it is, and does it right.

Final Thoughts: The drier aspects of this beer, really lend it towards fish or moist rich chocolate deserts. I think the picture on this beer really speaks volumes to what it is. I would want to drink it at the same that I would want to have a cigar, typically in the twilight hours after dinner, or during a hot day by the pool. I've been so far pleased with everything Cigar City has offered.
