Growler from Cigar City shared at a BA tasting thanks to mfielden.

A - Very dark brown color with a huge tan head.

S - Quite a bit happening here. Smoky, woody, roasty aroma. Hops are there but are a little drowned out by everything else.

T - Cedar, smoke, roasted malt, and hops. Not everyone is into cedary and smoky beers, but count me in as a fan. Crazy stuff; really interesting.

M - Dry on the palate with a medium body.

D - Really drinkable despite the smoke and cedar.

Wow. Chaveta on Cedar Steriods. This beer picks up an amazing amount of cedar, despite some skinnyness in the body. Pours dark brown/ black with a nice dark tan head. Nose is like Chaveta one, but with that noticeable forest aroma that the cedar imparts. I have come to really love what cedar does to a beer after drinking enough CCB beer. Aroma is piney hoppiness, but roast and coffee come in as well. Flavor is roasty as hell, and that roast continues throughout the experience of this beer, but then the cedar fights for its fifteen minutes as well, and that is about how long you remember the roasty cedary flavor. Flavor continues with depth of character as the cedar dukes it out with the roast and coffee. This beer brings the noise! About 3% ABV is insane for this one. Seriously, the finish will stay with your mouth for 15-20 minutes if you let it. Wayne hits another one out of the brewing ballpark.

The base beer "Chaveta" was made from second runnings of 110k Batch 2 IRIS. It was then put on Cedar and blended with some Bolita and a Lambic Joey made. The result is great. This one packs more flavor than most stouts or porters out there.

A: Pours very dark black.... Russian Imperial Stout black with a nice tall mocha head. Excellent retention and huge sheets of lace. Looks bad as hell in the glass.

S: Huge aromas, I laugh when I think of the ABV of this one. Tons of dark roasted malt up front. Hints of chocolate and coffee with a touch of ash. The cedar plays in the background here adding a nice spicy earthy quality.

T: Damn one of my favorite CCB beers. It packs the flavor of a 10% ABV into a sessionable ale. Huge roast flavors. Char and wood. Nice chocolate in the middle with hints of over roasted coffee in the finish with a huge dose of bitter hops.

M: On the thinner side of Medium. The Bolita was added to add a bit of body and it worked.

D: The most drinkable beer in the world. Pour it for anyone and they will tell you it's a Russian Imperial Stout. They will look at you all stupid when you tell them the low ABV. Home Run!

These beers are not better than the CCB stouts, I rate them so high for what they are. Tasty as hell beers with an insanely low ABV. It is a beer lovers dream.
