With cinnamon, vanilla, cacoa nibs and chile peppers. Extensive aging inside wooden barrels that previously held apple brandy lends additional complexity and depth of character to this imperial stout brewed to honor the great hero of Mayan mythology, Hun Hunahpu.

2020 Release.
Everything still working together really nicely on the nose; vanilla & chocolate, subtle cinnamon. Chilies with temp.
Palate not nearly as rich on the palate, but the contrast is really nice. Palate is dry and very barrel forward; stewed cinnamon apples, oak chips, blistered chilies, and baking cocoa. Finishes with a boozy warmth that lingers.
The body could use a little bit more weight, but that warmth on the finish gives this one everything it needs.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this, but it’s holding up amazingly. Not getting hardly any oxidative qualities, and while I’d imagine the prominence of the barrel has increased over time as the adjuncts fade, I think this is a perfect example of where thats just what this beer needed.

The Huna base is underwhelming at best. The AB really helped it but in no way made it a world class beer.
